Slowly, Kaede opened her eyes and realized how someone had been holding Dai's wrist. His orange eyes had turned away from her, who was now looking at the other person.
"Are you all right?" he asked, addressing Kaede, who couldn't believe who had just rescued her. "Who are you?" Dai asked immediately, showing his jealousy again. "Are you one of those volleyball scum?" he asked immediately, which was pretty much ignored.
Because the dark gray eyes had only turned to the girl in front of him. He could see the fear and relief in the brown-green eyes only too well right now. "Osamu..." Kaede breathed softly, swallowing a little. "How...much did you...hear?" was the first thing she wanted to know.
"Actually, just the last part, that you have a stupid head. I didn't hear the rest because of the wind from jogging." Osamu admitted honestly and finally looked at the slightly taller boy. "Dai Kunigami from the Itachiyama, right?" he asked provocatively, continuing to hold his wrist.
"Correctly recognized. Why are you interfering here? Is there something going on between you?" Dai wanted to know straight away and narrowed his eyes. "I'm interfering because you shouldn't hit girls in general. Not even you as her boyfriend." Osamu spoke coolly.
Kaede was able to observe very well how similar Osamu was to his brother. His cold nature often showed itself when he didn't think something was good or fair. A side that he had rarely shown towards his brother.
"I figured someone like you would be lurking around Kaede." Dai hissed. "There's nothing going on..." Kaede spoke now, not exactly wanting Dai to go off on the seventeen-year-old.
"As if there's nothing going on! Look at the way that fool looks at you!" Dai scolded. He had really changed in the last few weeks. And it wasn't because of the exam stress or his games. It was probably just that life didn't want Kaede to be happy and that he had to experience so much. At least Kaede wasn't as happy as she should be.
"I think it's better if you leave now." Osamu said as Dai snatched his hand away. Panting angrily, he looked with his orange eyes at Kaede, who had automatically rubbed her arm because of his grip. "I'll be in touch." was all that came out of his mouth before he simply walked away.
"What kind of idiot is that?" asked Osamu, who had been looking after Dai and was now looking at Kaede. "He...wasn't like this before. I don't know what's wrong with him..."
"Don't defend him now. He wanted to hit you." Osamu, who had adopted his usual stance, reprimanded her. He wanted to be a little calmer towards her alone.
"Didn't think you'd go for someone like that. Footballers are never a good choice." Kaede had to smile a little. The gesture was somehow automatic.
"I've known Dai since middle school. He's not really like that. But...what do you think is a good choice?" Kaede was really curious about what Osami was trying to say. He made the Tokoyami feel like she could really open up a bit more.
"Hm, maybe a volleyball player." Osamu shrugged his shoulders before looking into her slightly confused face with a slight grin. Sometimes Osamu really believed that Kaede was so in her world that she didn't even realize that anyone was interested in her.
