The weekend had begun again, and Dai had decided to come to Hyogo again. The remaining days had gone a little better and more relaxed thanks to Osamu. Kaede had explained to Chika that she had remembered Kazumi in the hallway and had simply needed her peace and quiet. It had not been her intention to leave the two of them standing there and she had apologized to them immediately afterwards.
However, Chika had only laughed briefly and said that everyone had a bad day and didn't see it as bad at all. She could have guessed that a situation like this could happen at some point.
After all, Chika had known Kaede for more than a year now. She also knew what Kazumi had roughly looked like. However, she never got a picture. Kaede was far too afraid that Kazumi's face could be recognized anywhere. After all, this case had been quite big in the media. The Nishida had only just managed to prevent anything worse. If they hadn't been able to interrupt the media, Kaede would probably have been pictured somewhere as well. Nice of them, really. Could Kazumi's mother have pulled herself together as far as guilt was concerned?
"Earth to Kaede." Dai wobbled around in front of her face. "Huh? What did you say?" the girl asked, looking into his orange eyes.
"Do you want something to eat?" the soccer player repeated himself. "Oh...oh..." Kaede mumbled and looked around briefly. She hadn't even realized that they had landed almost nowhere. Not a soul was here.
"What's wrong with you today? You're totally lost in your thoughts." Dai asked now that he was a little worried about his girlfriend. She bit her lower lip slightly. "I'm...writing my book..." Kaede began to say and had only vaguely told Dai what the novel was about. She didn't want to tell him yet that it was actually about her life.
"I was in a part that reminded me of Kazumi." she said honestly and felt her heart ache again. "Since then...I see her in front of me. I...see her body...lying on the street in front of me..." Kaede began quietly and stuttered, to which there was no real response. Her boyfriend was supposed to take her in his arms right now. But why didn't he?
"When are you going to stop that?!" Dai asked, causing Kaede to flinch. Her moist eyes turned to the brown-haired man, who had just been behaving very strangely. "What...?"
"Not what?! When are you going to stop talking about her?! Deal with it!? Kaede wake up at last!" shouted Dai, who had now roughly grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall. Fear spread through Kaede, as her boyfriend had never been so loud with her.
"I..." "Kazumi, Kazumi, Kazumi! I can't listen to it anymore! Do you finally understand?! She's dead and will never come back to you! Forget her already!" he continued, whereupon Dai became more and more rude.
"Stop it..." Kaede now pleaded tearfully and held her hands to her ears. How could Dai hurt her like this? He knew exactly what had happened and how she had felt.
His words simply destroyed her mentally. Dai seemed to her as if he was developing into a toxic person. "Just realize that you need help! That you have to live without her!"
Trembling, Kaede pressed herself against the wall. She didn't want to listen to him. She couldn't hear that loud voice anymore. "Stop it...please. You're...scaring me..." Kaede said, hoping that Dai was just having a bad day. Hoped that he would calm down. Or had she been wrong in their relationship all these years?
Had he always been like this and hidden it from her? Had he always held back until she would give herself to him completely? No, Dai wasn't like that.
But right now, he was showing a completely different self. He was no longer the Dai she had fallen in love with. "You want me to stop? Why should I if it doesn't go into your stupid head?!" asked Dai, who had now raised his hand out of reflex.
Kaede could only see out of the corner of her eye that his hand had come towards her. As if of her own accord, she squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for him to hit her for the first time. But that didn't happen when Dai raised his voice.
"Huuuh?"
