"I need some advice." Kaede addressed Chika in the canteen, who had raised her head in delight. "I love reading your first chapter!" grinned the gray-haired girl, who was being looked at by several girls. To be more precise, they were five girls who had bullied Chika on the first day. They were probably looking for a new reason to say something against her.
"To be honest... I haven't got anything yet..." Kaede admitted. "I don't understand..." Chika mumbled, not understanding why Kaede hadn't gotten a word in yet. As far as she had heard, she wasn't short of ideas.
"I tried to start last night. But...I couldn't think of a title," Kaede told her. "How...you didn't start writing because of a title?" Chika asked and got a nod in return.
"Well I, as your best friend, which I'm just going to say and assume since you never said anything about it, tell you that you don't need a title right away.", Chika started to say.
Best friend? Sounded kind of nice to Kaede's ears. Only she thought that would be cheating on Kazumi, which was not what she wanted. But somehow Kaede couldn't tell Chika either. She was innocent and shouldn't worry so much about everything.
Chika may never have had a best friend with whom she could talk about everything. Kaede could only assume that this term had come up because of that. "You should just start writing whatever comes into your head. You can always look for a title for the book at the end. After all, it's more about the content. And I think your title will keep changing the further you get. So, pick something after you've finished the book that fits your novel."
Chika hadn't minced her words on this one. She was really in her element when it came to things like this. Kaede realized that Chika could really help her and give her a piece of her mind.
"Hm, but if it helps you otherwise, there's one person who could give you an idea." Chika pondered, which made Kaede a little curious. Another person? Had Chika found another friend who accepted her?
"And who?" Kaede wanted to know and was more than happy to accept further help. As long as it wasn't about the content interfering in her life, Kaede thought everything was fine. Because she wanted to leave the content unchanged. No one was allowed to have a say in that, even if it was only a small matter.
Her life and her past could not be changed. Nor could it be adapted or changed. No matter how you looked at it, her mother died in a car accident. Her father had slept with a woman the day after she died. Her grandmother had Alzheimer's, which could not be cured. And it was precisely these things that Kaede wanted to mention and write about in her book. It was important to her because she wanted her novel to convey some values that could affect anyone. But the focus would certainly be mainly on the love life so that it would be a real novel in the end.
"Nah, come on." Chika smiled after they had both finished their lunch. Kaede simply followed the gray-haired girl, who was walking towards a club room that Kaede had never looked at because it wasn't her subject area.
"There she sits." Chika said, pointing to a black-haired girl with glasses. "She always sits here alone. Like me, she probably doesn't have it easy." she added and had never dared to talk to her herself.
"But she might be the perfect person to give you some ideas and inspiration."
