The last thing Y/N would've wanted was to return to school that following Wednesday. If given the opportunity, they would take measures to ensure they never had to go to school ever again.

However, they really didn't have a say in the matter, and off to the academy they went.

Adora was driving in the front seat of the car, noticing that it was a rather chilly day out. She was wearing dress-down attire that looked reminiscent of pajamas.

...

And Y/N fared no better. A part of them was surprised their mother would let them go like that in the first place.

The journey to the school was mostly quiet, Adora humming the tune of the morning radio as Y/N stared out the window, lost in thought.

I guess a little espionage at school shouldn't hurt.

But if I had to guess... who out of everyone could it be that he was mentioning? Could there be a mole among us?

...

Then the memes hit.

Ugh, focus! Not that kind of among us!

...

...

Well, maybe a little...

Adora observed their reserved stare out into the cloudy sky and patted their good shoulder with her free hand.

"Hey."

"Hm?" They tilted their head.

...

"You okay?"

"Yeah. I'm alright. Just thinking."

...

"Mm... okay," The blonde seemed disapproving of the answer. They didn't blame her for such a reaction.

"Don't worry. It's not really about what happened," Y/N assured her with a smile, "It was more so about the way my mom was beforehand."

"She, uh..."

"During the argument... things kinda got outta hand. That's... why I ran off in the first place," They shrugged it off, despite the obvious twitching from their foot, knowing how uncomfortable it felt to relive it.

...

Adora was understandably heartbroken. She wasn't given the details about most of it apart from what they decided to tell her. And she was deeply concerned, noticing that they were rather distant since the incident.

Well, not distant in the way that they weren't telling her anything or talking to her, but about the experience they had in the woods. Y/N kept insisting she drop the topic most of the time.

In their eyes, trying to hold onto something like that wouldn't help them. It seemed insignificant, despite the clear traumatic impact it would leave.

They weren't physically unscathed either. They received a multitude of cuts and bruises, including a sling that they were stuck with for the next few weeks.

...

"You know... you can talk to me... right?" Adora hoped they would listen to this plea of hers. It was idiotic for her to say it out loud, knowing she's been a broken record for the last two days.

"I know. But I'll be alright. I can't dwell on that stuff, you know?" They glanced back at her.

Adora was rightfully shocked at their dismissiveness towards it, but in that moment, it clicked for her.
