...

...

The week of detentions flew by, and I had finally managed to get back into some sort of routine. Plus, my shoulder was starting to hurt less and less. Although, it would be nice if it wasn't injured to begin with.

It would make it much easier to skate.

Obviously, that didn't stop my dumb ass.

...

Adora had noticed I didn't return to the dorm earlier today, and went to go investigate. She asked around, noticing I didn't mention where I was. In truth, I didn't think about it in the moment, which, looking back on, was sort of stupid on my part.

I wasn't really focused either when I was skating out in the rink. Considering it was a weekday afternoon, I figured there'd be some turnout. Especially with the fall season starting up.

But winter is the prime time for skaters and families of students to join us if they see fit. Spinnerella was chilling up in the booth, a few other staff lingering around, cleaning up and occasionally making small talk with me. I know them quite well, actually.

The ice created this silver glow under my face. I don't know why, but today, it seemed more faded than usual. Maybe because my attention was so divided by my shoulder, which throbbed in pain on occasion.

...

...

What caught my attention partway through was an unenthused shout from Adora from across the rink.

"Y/N!"

"Huh?"

"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE RESTING YOUR SHOULDER! WHY ARE YOU OUT HERE SKATING..." Her voice dropped towards the end, wavering even. It was kind of funny to me, that tonal shift, and I couldn't hold back a few giggles, unfortunately.

...

"Well, I figured why not? Plus, it's okay! You use your feet not your arms for this..." I explain to her with a smug grin, even though I knew I was going to be chewed out later.

"Don't make me come out there!" She was close to climbing the gate, and a small part of me wanted to see her try.

"Yeah? What are you gonna do?" I teased. Just because I was injured didn't mean I lost any speed on the ice.

"Oh, you little--"

"Adora, unless you plan on joining the free skate, don't climb into the rink!" Spinnerella told her off, seeing how much the blonde was planning to follow through on her 'threat'. I wished that Spinnerella would have let her do her thing. It would have been entertaining.

...

I snickered under my breath again. But the main thing that still bothered me was all of these different occurrences. First, I had multiple run-ins with Catra, and while she seemed pretty pleasant, I still wasn't too sure how much trust I should give. Then that odd conversation between me and DT in the bathroom.

To this day I wonder how we managed to strike up a conversation after only formally meeting each other in that sort of setting.

I think I daydreamed about it for too long, though, because pretty soon after, I was told that my reserved session was over, and I had to make way for a private practice. I was fine with that, seeing that there wasn't much else for me to do anyway.

I slid on over to the gate, where Adora was waiting with that signature grumpy pout. I knew I was going to GET IT when we got back to the dorm. On one hand, I knew it was coming since I didn't fill her in on where I was going to be, but on the other hand, she knew where I would be either way... well, that's what it seemed like.
