Author's Note: Per the title, this one is going to be more insane than the last. This is going to be from Catra's perspective.
I was waltzing my way back to the dorm. Naturally, I thought to look back at the rink down the sidewalk. Seeking out Y/N wasn't really at the top of my list, but the little encounter we both had got me wondering.
Wondering about why they pull this shit the way they do.
Acting all nonchalant, pretending that something like a BLOODY NOSE is worth being dismissive and all hide-y over.
Anyways... I just so happened to notice them stepping out from the dorm hall. But something looked weird, so to speak. With my hands in my jacket, I stayed quiet in my footsteps as they attempted to blend in with the other students.
They had this look of... maybe fear? Maybe they were a bit apprehensive? I wasn't going to sit there guessing, as that would've taken all evening. So, I caught up after a few minutes of swinging behind.
"Hey."
They jolted at my sudden appearance.
"What the--?" The poor thing almost dropped their phone right there on the pavement. My tail swung around before tapping them on the head.
"Relax. Just me. Your friendly neighborhood cat."
Their eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"Stalker," a murmur.
"Hey! Is that a way to treat a friend?"
"We're..." they paused, fidgeting with their leg, "Still acquaintances... at best."
"Whatever you say," I rolled my eyes with a slight twitch of my ear. I still heavily recall them catching me back in the locker room before I hit the bench weird. "What're you doing out here, anyway? Aren't you usually in your dorm or skating or something?"
"No. I'm just taking a walk," they brush me off.
"Mind if I join in?" I swing my arms behind my head. But Y/N's response comes quicker than I thought. They throw their head back.
"Catra, I already had to turn down Adora on that one. Don't make me turn you down, too."
"What? Why?" My eyes widen. "Aren't you two... a thing?" The way I say it comes off a bit more aggressive than I want it to, but hey. What are ya gonna do?
Their expression dropped. "We--We are. It's just... right now... I'm a bit..." Their hand rubbed against the back of their head, unable to look me in the eyes.
"It's complicated right now."
I pause, realizing.
"Oh. Uh--Do--Do I need to--?"
"No. No. You can stay. I guess having some company is better than nothing," they shrug, giving in.
It felt odd, walking beside them around the sights of campus. The sounds of leaves pressing against one another, shimmying into the branches, warranted several flicks of my ears.
Even more interesting, Y/N barely said a word.
I guess whatever happened was... pretty bad, huh?
I hope not.
We came across one of these tall trees just outside the gym, and Y/N situated themself beneath it. They pulled their sleeves up and sort of leaned back against it without a care.
