The Moment it Clicked

HER BREATHING halted as she watched the burning house, Unsure if Eddie survived his entry into the house, Josie clutched her silver moon and gold sun necklace as the flames continued to grow.

"Those flames are gonna keep climbing." Henry summarized, he turned around walking to his fire captain. Josie glanced back and forth between him and the burning home, her heart pounding in her ears as she watched helplessly.

"Cap, if we don't put out that fire on the second floor, there's gonna be a flashover, and Diaz is gonna get stuck up there!" Henry explained to the older man. He nodded his head.

"That's what I'm afraid of." Captain Nash says.

"Hey!" A voice says to Josie, she turns her head seeing a blonde woman strutting toward her. "You okay, what's happening?" Alex asks her best friend, she looks at her, the face of panic written across her face.

"Someone's a big fan of Spider-Man." She joked pointing at the burning house. Alex's blue's eye's widened as she glanced back and forth. "Oh god."

"Cap!" A voice started over the radio, she whipped her head looking over her shoulder at the 118 captain. "I got him..alive but unconscious, I'm prepping for evac." Eddie's voice announced on the radio.

"Oh thank god." Josie breathed out relief, coughing from the smoke. Hen ran over to her coworkers and captain. "Cap, gas guys just showed up they're shutting it down!" She informed him.

"All neighbors are present and accounted for, and two more engines are rolling in." She explained out of breath.  "But it doesn't make any sense if there is no water pressure."

An explosion on top of the house catches their attention. Josie covered her mouth as she watched the top of the house burst a flame, the roof beginning to collapse in on itself. Her heart pounded more and more as she began to get flashes in her mind of what would happen if the firefighter didn't exit the burning home.

"ALEX! The father of the young boy shrieked out in fear. She whipped her head back and forth, she walked over to the father and daughter, placing a hand in front of them, gently pushing them back.

"You guys have to step back." Josie urged, her voice beginning to break as she looked back at the burning roof. His chest heaving up and down, goosebumps flooding her arms and legs. Dont take him, not now. She thought.

"Cap! Negative on evac! Pinned down southside of the house!" Eddie announced with a cough on the radio, her breath shook as fear flooded her thoughts. You will not take him, she thinks.

"I can take an extinguisher!" Buck started, walking to the back of the fire truck. "I can make that jump! I can help Eddie!" He shouted as he started to climb.

"No wait!" Captain Nash halted him with a raise of his hand. Josie's brows furrowed as she looked up at the sky hearing the running of an engine, through the smoke she could make out the outline of a plane. The crowd of people looked up as the plane got closer to them, her eyes widened.
