I Hope You're Happy

RACING ACROSS THE STREETS of Los Angeles her heart in her throat as they drove fast past vendors and small homes, it would be considered the rougher part of the city. She wasn't a stranger to this side of town, frequent calls that weren't a housewife stabbing her husband usually came from here.

Her ambulance was parked outside a blue clay house with a white iron fence, a crowd of neighbors outside spectating. She slammed her driver's door, the cops holding back the people as they cleared a path.

"What happened?" Josie asks a short man with buzzed blonde hair, wearing dog tags. "I heard my sister and her friends shouting back here, I came back and she was wheezing like hell." He explained.

"Does your sister have a history of Asthma?" She wonders, jogging alongside her. "No she runs cross country or she did." He says.

"What's her name?" Alex asks him. "Bethany." He answered.

On the ground in front of a small wooden garage. Levi got to the side of a young girl with her head half-shaven, holding her chest wheezing out in pain. Her friends stood around looking at her.

"Bethany, can you hear us?" Levi asks her unzipping his red bag. She groaned nodding. "Bethany, Can you tell us what happened?" He asked her soothingly.

She wheezed pointing to a small blue glass pipe on the ground broken. Josie's eyes widened, she clicked a penlight to get on the opposite side of the young girl.

"Did one of you give this to her?" Alex asked standing over the broken glass. Eyeing the teenagers, they shook their heads. A girl with messy red hair stepped up.

"I did..I didn't think she would be all crazy about it." She scoffed. Josie's arm hairs raised up as she got to her feet, Alex taking her place. "Crazy? what did you give her?" Josie demanded.

"None of your damn business." She sneered getting into the paramedic's face. Her brown eyes stared the girl down. "it is my business if she dies it will be because of you, do you want that?" She asked.

The redhead rolled her eyes. "You can't prove anything, how do you know I was even the one to buy it?" She asked her. Josie raised a brow.

"Bought it, what exactly did you buy?" Josie asked stepping up, she shook her head. "Nothing." She says crossing her arms.

"What did you give her?" Josie asked again, the two paramedics on the ground watched the scene go on. "Nothing bitch!" The teen exclaimed.

The teen girl shoved the older woman away. Josie growled under her breath as she marched back to the girl, two cops came in holding her back as they placed cuffs on the teen taking her away. Josie got back to the girl on the ground.

Her blue eyes stare up unresponsive to the paramedics. "Bethany?" Josie asked the young girl's eyes dilated.

Josie brought her fingers to the girl's neck, no light pump of the heart. "I have no pulse starting compressions!" She shouted.
