This Life We Chose

SHE SIGHED IN RELIEF after spending two days in the hospital she was ready to go home to her bed. Her hand reached for the car door handle.

"No! No! I got it." Her father stopped her, she held up her non-cast hand in defeat. He had flown in a night ago, and it didn't surprise her that her mother didn't come with him. Her father at least didn't fight with her and that was better for her.

She knew it was a bit cliche for a girl to have issues with her mother, especially when girls look like her. Though she didn't really care, her mom and she had been butting heads since the day Maria passed away and the day she said goodbye to Miami forever.

"I'm not fragile Papi." She reminds him, and he waves her off with his hands. "My girl has a broken arm, and her waist is bandaged I say you are far from fragile." He jokes she rolls her eyes with a smirk.

She grunted standing up, her arm in a black sling held close to herself. Alex and Tara stepped out of the house, screaming in excitement at seeing her. "She lives!" Tara shouted.

Alex ran at her slowing down wrapping a single arm around her best friend. "Missed you being around." She says, Josie laughed in excitement with her.

"Girls give her room to breathe." Camilo shoos them off her. Alex groaned annoyed letting her go, placing a hand on her lower back. She walked into the living room, being hit with fresh AC.

A banner in bright blue painted in yellow saying. Holy F##k Honey you're home, Josie rolled her eyes shaking her head. "Orginal."

"Who's idea was it?" Josie wonders looking at the two. Alex pointed at the young woman next to her, she placed her hands under her chin grinning. "Guilty." Tara squeals.

"Oh, that's interesting." Her dad deadpanned looking at the sign, in his hand was a bag from Target, she shook her head.

"Can you grab the other bags from the car?" Camilo asked the two women, and they nodded.

"I ordered you those healthy waffles from that place you like," Alex tells her, giving her a thumbs her girlfriend follows right behind her as they walk outside. She walked back to her bedroom, she sighed sitting down.

"I will never complain about my bed again." She says, leaning her head back. The older man walked over to her vanity, looking at the photos in the mirror. "I remember this day." He says.

"Yeah you two just ran through my shop, being little mierdas, you stole some Gatorades to sell to those baseball boys," Camilo recalls to her, she smiled licking her lips. "Yeah uh, I think it was Tennessee that was there." She says.
