Come Together

JOSIE MUMBLED, the cold of her room hitting her bare arms as turned over. The side of her bed lay empty, she sighed heavily, turning over and looking at the sea-blue wall. Her brown eyes traced up the wall, looking at the stringed photos draped on along with fairy lights.

Her fingers traced the bubbles on the wall. In the middle, is a photo of two teen girls, both wearing Flordia Gator's shirt, shorts, and high tops, smiling in front of the beach. Josie looked at the girl on her left, staring at her for a moment.

"Dont look at me like that, I know." She mumbled, she rolled over sitting up. Crossing her arm realizing she lacked most of her clothes.

She bent down pulling a black t-shirt over her chest, slipping her lace panties back on and a pair of grey sweatpants.

She could feel the ache between her legs, a bruise-type feeling on her neck. She was too afraid to look in the mirror, she was sure of what It was. Her nose tilted up smelling coffee, her bare feet hit the tile of the hallway as she walked out.

"Hope you are planning on getting that new bag," Josie says, she looks at the kitchen island expecting to see her best friend brewing a new batch of coffee. He looked up at her, still in boxers and his shirt.

"You're still here?" She says, he nods his head. "Yeah uh...I think we should uh talk about what happened last night." He points out, she shook her head.

Taking a seat at the bar. "What's to talk about?" She asks. He slid a mug over to her. "A lot." He answers.

"It's just sex, Henry nothing more," Josie tells him, he shakes his head. "That's not really what I meant." He says, she shrugged.

"Then what did you mean?" Josie wondered, he sighed leaning on the counter, preparing himself. "I know why you did what you did last night," Henry says, her heart skipped a beat.

She laughed weakly. "I was stressed out and you were too, nothing else to it." She clarified, and he shook his head.

"No, it's not! because you used me because you want someone else." Henry declared, she scoffed shaking her head.

"That is ridiculous, there is no one else." Josie lied, he crossed his arms, and walked around, leaning against the back of the couch. His black eyes were soft, looking at her as the morning peaked through the night.

"Before I left, there was this look in your eyes like you weren't even there half the time like you were on autopilot," Henry recalls to her, she thumbed her nail polish looking down.  "Even when you were like happy, it didn't seem real to me."

"What's your point?" Josie deadpan, he sighed. "Since I've come back you have changed, like something inside you woke up, there is just this glow to you and I only see that when." He stops, and she looks up, her brows furrowed.

"When what?" Josie asks, he taps his arms. "When you are with the 118." He answered, her heart pounded in her chest.

"I. I mean they are good people, they care about me and my crew." Josie says nonchalantly, he shakes his head. "It's more than that," Henry adds.
