Taylor's POV

I tossed and turned a few times, before groaning and rolling over to tap my phone to check the time. 2:32am. For some reason, all night I'd been in and out of sleep, and right now I was finding it near impossible to fall asleep. Sighing, I rolled back over and propped myself up on my elbow. I chuckled softly at the way Travis snored lightly in his sleep. Even though it was annoying sometimes, it was one of the many little things I loved about him.

"You're so cute." I whispered softly, so that I wouldn't wake him. A grin suddenly appeared across my face as inspiration struck me. Giggling quietly, I placed a small kiss onto Travis' forehead and slid out of bed, then tiptoed into the music room, and sat down at the keyboard and turned the volume down super low.

I hummed quietly to myself as I played around with different chord progressions and melodies. Once I decided on something I could use as a solid base for a song, I grabbed my notebook and favourite pen, and flipped it open, leaning on top of the keyboard to start writing.

I scribbled down everything my brain came up with, even if I didn't end up using it, I liked to start a song by writing down everything in my head. I wrote and wrote, my mind going wild with ideas.

Before too long, I was putting my ideas to melodies, and within an hour, I was softly singing the first chorus. Travis liked to tease me about the fact that I don't like leaving things unfinished, but he wasn't wrong. If I get an idea, I'll work on it until I've got absolutely nothing left in me, because what if I lose the inspiration? I can't risk that happening.

Ditching the keyboard, I sat down on the floor, leaning against the small couch in the room, and picked up my guitar. I usually found it easier to start a song from scratch on piano, because I found it easier to experiment with different chords and melodies, then I liked to swap to guitar once I had a better idea of how the song would go.

I trialed a few sets of lyrics for a chorus, until I had my favourite, and I drew a little star next to my favourite lines in my notebook. Then I experimented a few different lyrics for the verses, until I had some that I liked.

By about 5am, I had almost an entire song done, just a few things would probably be changed in the bridge, since I always wanted those to be perfect, but other then that, I was happy with it.

Smiling to myself, I started from the beginning, and I tried to play it the whole way through. I messed up a few times, but that was only natural when I wrote the song in a few hours.

At about 5:30, I heard footsteps, then noticed a very sleepy Travis stumble through the doorway.

"What on earth are you doing up so early." Travis yawned, and collapsed down on the couch I was leaning against.

"Would you believe me if I told you I've been up for 3 hours?" I giggled, leaning my head back in between his legs.

"Unfortunately, I would." He laughed weakly, still clearly half asleep, "What have you been working on?" He mumbled, as he lazily ran his fingers through my hair.

I tilted my head upside down to see him, and grinned, "A song about you." I blushed lightly.

"Oh really? Can I hear it?" He asked, leaning down to kiss my forehead softly.

"I only just finished it, and I'll probably still make some changes, but sure." I smiled, and climbed up onto the couch next to him with my guitar. I crossed my legs and rested the notepad against my knee with the lyrics, then started to play.
