"Dude– you have like, 15 missed calls from Taylor." Patrick teased, chucking my phone towards me before grabbing his water bottle, and tipping it up into his mouth.

I caught my phone in my hands, and frowned when I turned it on. He wasn't exaggerating - well, okay, there weren't 15 missed calls, but there were 8. That wasn't normal. Usually, if I missed a call from Tay because of practice, she'd call maybe once more if it was urgent, or just send a message. She knew I wasn't usually on my phone during practice.

I tapped her contact to call her back, but she didn't pick up. I tried again, and no answer. This was so unlike her, and I didn't want to worry, but it was too late.

"Pat, can you tell Andy I'm leaving early? I have to go check on Tay." I said, already gathering up my bag.

"Sure, is she okay?" Patrick asked and I pressed my lips together nervously.

"I don't know, but I'm worried. She's acting weird" I murmured, flinging my bag over my shoulder and clutching my phone in my hand. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

"You know it." Pat nodded and I watched him wander off to find Coach, as I hurriedly made my way to my car.

I had no idea why I was so worried, it was probably nothing. Maybe she'd been sitting on her phone, and all those calls were an accident. It would just have been something like that- I was sure of it. I tried to call her again on the drive home through the car bluetooth speaker, but again, no answer.

When I got home, I practically leaped out of the car, and didn't even bother to grab my bag out or lock it before I scrambled to get inside.

"Tay?" I called out, but there was no response. I took a breath, and decided to go look upstairs, when suddenly I noticed there was water running. Furrowing my eyebrows, I hurried upstairs to our ensuite bathroom, where the door was slightly ajar, and the shower was on. "Baby?"

I softly knocked on the door, then pushed it open. My heart leapt out of my chest when I saw her, lying flat on the floor of the shower, the water hitting her bare stomach.

"Shit– baby, oh my god." I stuttered, and without even thinking, stepped into the shower, not caring that I got soaking wet. I turned off the water, and kneeled down, slipping my hands underneath her back and lifting her up, holding her body close to mine.

Her eyes fluttered open at the motion, and I let out a sigh of relief as I laid her gently onto our bed, quickly grabbing a towel to lay it over her so she wouldn't get cold.

"Baby what happened?" I leaned over her, tilting her head to the side in case she'd swallowed any water. I didn't think she had, but just in case.

Taylor didn't say anything at first, her lips parting slightly, but no words came out. She looked so damn small. Curled up under the towel, her damp hair clinging to her skin, her fingers twisted tightly in the fabric.

"Tay?"

She shuffled slightly, blinked a few times, and sat herself up, tugging the towel up to keep herself covered. Her hands were shaking.

I reached out, covering her fingers with mine, but she flinched- just barely, but enough for my stomach to twist into knots. She wasn't at all herself.

"Baby," I murmured, softer now, trying not to startle her, "What happened?"

She swallowed hard, completely avoiding eye contact.

"I-" Her voice cracked. She cleared her throat and tried again. "I don't know."

I exhaled, pressing my lips together. She was lying. I knew her too well.
