"Are you almost ready babe?!" Travis called from downstairs. They were headed to a Chiefs party at Patrick's house. As Travis had explained to Taylor, there would be a lot of people, and most of them would probably be drunk out of their minds. Taylor 2 years ago would never have imagined getting herself involved in that sort of environment, but she'd recently discovered that she was allowed to have fun, and she adored that Travis was all for doing that with her.

"Yep, coming!" Taylor quickly ran her lipstick over her lips, covering them in the perfect shade of red. She'd gotten pretty quick at applying lipstick over the years, one swipe and she was done.

Before too long they were out the door. This was one of the rare occasions where Travis had opted to drive, as he didn't plan on drinking anything.

"You're sure you don't wanna drink? I can get my driver here in 5 minutes if you do." Taylor double checked as they climbed into the convertible.

"I'm sure. Everyone there will be absolutely wasted, I wanna be able to take care of you." Travis smiled, placing a hand gently on her thigh and starting the car.

"Trav you don't have to do that... I'll be okay. I was fine at the super bowl afterparty wasn't I?" Taylor reminded him.

"Yeah... I know. But I spent 90% of that night scared, because I knew if anything happened to you, I wouldn't have been in the right headspace to help you. I just need to know I can be there in case you need me."

"Trav I didn't know that..." Taylor frowned, placing her hand on top of his hand on her thigh.

"Hey, don't worry about it. It's just me and my overprotective side that's freaking out. And you know me, I can 100% have a great time without alcohol. Trust me." Travis assured her as he gave her thigh a gentle squeeze.

"Okay... I love you." Taylor smiled at him, watching as he kept his eyes focussed on the road.

He quickly glanced towards her, "I love you more." Travis grinned as he reached for the volume dial, "let's crank the music."

Seconds later, 'Fast Car' was blasting from the convertibles speakers. Taylor smiled to herself, thinking about how some of these lyrics matched this moment in time perfectly.

They pulled up to Patrick's house, where the driveway was filled with cars, and music could be heard from miles away.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Travis asked as they climbed out of the car.

"Why wouldn't I be? I love parties!" Taylor smiled, clutching onto Travis's hand as they walked together up the driveway.

"It's just- it's gonna be crazy in there." Travis said again.

"Okay, stop for a second." Taylor paused in her tracks as she grabbed hold of Travis's other hand.

"What is it?" He asked curiously.

"You're scared. I can almost hear your heart beating out of your chest. What's got you so nervous?" Taylor asked gently.

"I just know how some of these guys get sometimes. They're great people, but they lose all sense of control when they're drunk. Plus, half of the people here are people I don't even know, so I don't know how they'll act and I don't know what they'll be like drunk and-"
