Travis
The sun filtered through the kitchen window as I chopped vegetables for Taylor and I's breakfast omelettes. My shirt clung to my skin, damp with sweat from Patrick and I's impromptu early morning session at the gym. I had left before Taylor had woken up, and she still hadn't made her way downstairs, so I assumed she was still asleep.
I wasn't the best cook in the world, but I could make a delicious omelette, and I knew Taylor loved them. I focussed hard on slicing the peppers into small pieces, then felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around me from behind.
"Good morning baby." I said softly, placing down the knife and turning around to face her. Taylor looked up at me, her eyes sparkling as usual, but with a hint of sadness. Over the months, I'd learnt how to read Taylor like a book, which had been hard at first, because of how good she was at masking her feelings, but by now I was pretty confident in my ability to be able to tell if something was wrong. I gently cupped my hands around her face. "You okay princess?"
She nodded, and lifted her face out of my hands in favour of pressing it into my chest. I furrowed my eyebrows, not fully convinced, but let it go for now, and turned back around to continue chopping the vegetables. Taylor stayed clung to my side, holding onto my body like she needed it to live.
"Someone's clingy today," I teased, trying to turn around to grab the eggs, but finding her grip too strong.
"I missed you." she whispered softly, "You weren't in bed when I woke up... I didn't get my morning cuddles."
I turned back to face her, and took her warm face gently in my hands, letting my thumbs brush softly over her cheeks. "I'm sorry baby, Patrick and I just wanted to get an extra gym session in."
Taylor pouted, her eyes whimpering as she locked them onto mine. "We don't get that many days together." She frowned, "I want to make the most of my time with you."
I leaned in, kissing her forehead, then her nose, then finally her lips, letting that last kiss linger a little longer. "You're right princess, I'm sorry. No more early mornings. I'm here with you for the rest of the day, okay? And all day tomorrow. I promise."
Her expression softened, and she nodded. "Okay... but you owe me extra cuddles today."
"That's not a problem." I said, pulling her in for a quick hug before turning to grab the eggs, and cracking them into a bowl to whisk them together. I had to admit, Taylor being attached to me made the process a little longer, but I didn't mind too much.
When I tried to turn to turn on the stove, Taylor didn't move, her arms clung around me.
"Baby, I kind of need you to let go so I can finish making breakfast." I chuckled, and Taylor shook her head, then clutched my body tighter.
Waddling slowly with Taylor attached to me, I managed to turn on the stove, and poured the eggs into it.
"C'mon Tay, just give me two seconds to finish cooking, then you can hug me again."
Taylor frowned, her bottom lip pouting out, "But I just want to be close to you."
"I know princess, but I can't do this with you hanging onto me." I said, trying my best to keep my voice gentle, but I could feel my patience stretching thin.
I peeled her arms off my waist, and her face fell. She stepped back, her arms dropping to her sides, "Fine." Taylor whispered and looked away.
"No– hey, baby. I'm sorry, I just–"
"I get it," she interrupted, her voice small. "I'll just go sit down."
I watched her as she walked to the table and sat down, her shoulders slumped. I felt like a jerk. Turning off the stove and abandoning the eggs, I walked over to her, kneeling down beside her chair.
"Tay, I'm really sorry." I said softly, "I just needed a little bit of space. You know I love you more than anything."
"Not more than Patrick." She murmured, her eyes watery. "You're always with him... I just thought we would spend every second together... since we only get a few days before it's back to endless face time calls and text messages." She started to cry softly, "I just want to spend time with you."
I frowned, feeling awful. She was right. We only had three days together before she had to fly off for the tour, and I had to be at practice every day. "I want to spend time with you too. You're right, Tay. I promise, for the next two days, we only spend time with each other. No one else, okay?"
Taylor hesitated for a moment, before nodding slowly, and looking up at me. "Okay," She murmured, then suddenly, burst into tears.
My heart sank, I hated seeing her cry. But suddenly, I remembered something. "Baby... are you on your period? Is that why you're feeling a bit more emotional?"
Her eyes widened, and her face flushed with anger. "What? Are you saying my feelings aren't valid just cause of my period?"
"What? No- no, baby, that's not what I'm saying. Of course your feelings are valid but... are you?"
"Yes but that's not the point Travis!" She started to cry harder, and I was at a loss for words. I didn't want to make her more upset, I just wanted to make things better.
I took her hands in mine, looking into her eyes. "Tay, I love you. I'm sorry if I made you feel like your feelings aren't important. They are, always."
She took a breath, and when she eventually started to calm down, she nodded slowly. "Okay. Just... be careful how you ask next time."
"I will, I promise." I said, pulling her into a hug. "How about we go finish making breakfast together? Then we can have the rest of the day for cuddles."
She nodded again, a small smile forming on her lips, "Okay."
I stood up, and together we went to finish making breakfast, and by the time we sat down to eat, the subtle tension had drifted away. I knew Taylor was usually more clingy on her period, she'd just need a little extra love the next few days, and I was sure as hell going to give that to her.
After we ate, I quickly cleaned up so I could focus my attention back on her. She seemed happier, although still a little withdrawn. Her movements smaller and slower than usual. "You okay?" I asked, and sat down next to her on the couch we'd retreated to.
"Yeah just... cramps." She said softly, rubbing just below her belly button.
"Will cuddles make it better?" I asked, even though I already knew her answer.
She nodded, and I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close into my embrace.
"You know I love you more than anything in the whole world, right?" I asked, looking down at my girlfriend.
Taylor glanced up, and offered me a small smile, "I know."
"Please don't ever forget it." I reminded her, tucking strands of her bangs out of her face.
Taylor sighed into a smile, "I love you Travis."
Pulling her closer, I leaned down and kissed her forehead. I would love this woman until the day I died, and that included loving her clinginess, her extra special emotions around her period, everything. They were what made Taylor, Taylor. And the reason I loved her so fucking much.
