they aren't famous in this
Taylor groaned softly, shifting in her spot as she curled up in the plane seat next to me. Her head was resting comfortably on my shoulder, and I could feel her warm, steady breath through the fabric of my shirt. She was still half asleep, stirring awake at the perfect time, since we were getting close to landing in Queensland.
We had just gotten married a few weeks ago, and rather than a regular honeymoon, we'd decided to go travelling - our first stop being Australia. It was our way of celebrating, seeing the whole world together. It would be a little more expensive than a standard honeymoon, but we'd both been saving up for this. Doing extra shifts, not eating out as often. Travelling was something we'd both really wanted to do together before we settled down and started our family.
I gently brushed a strand of stray hair from her face, and her eyes fluttered open. She blinked up at me, tiredly. "Are we almost there?" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"We sure are." I smiled, pressing a kiss to her temple.
A sleepy smile spread across her face as she gazed out the window, noticing the coastline of Australia beneath us. "Wow... it's so beautiful." She looked back at me, her hair sticking out in every direction - a mess from having slept on the plane.
I chuckled softly at her messy hair and groggy expression. "You're beautiful," I replied, tucking another strand of hair behind her ear. She rolled her eyes, but her cheeks flushed a soft, light pink.
"You're such a dork." She teased, but the way her hand slipped into mine told me she didn't mind. I gave her hand a gentle squeeze, three times - sending her a silent message. She knew what it meant.
As the plane began its descent, I watched as Taylor adjusted her position, fixing her hoodie and scrunching her nose as she tried to wake herself up. She quickly ducked her head down, using the hair tie on her wrist to twist it up into a messy high bun - not really caring what it looked like. She was so beautiful.
We eventually touched down and taxied to the gate, and Taylor was giddy with excitement, popping her seatbelt the second the little seatbelt sign went off.
We grabbed our bags, and I kept my hand resting on the small of her back as we walked together through the airport to the pick-up bay. I'd already organised with the hotel we were staying at for a car to pick us up, so we loaded our bags into the boot and were driven straight there.
"The sky's so blue." Taylor murmured as we arrived, hopping out of the car. "And it smells so... fresh. Like the ocean."
I smiled at her, my heart full. I reached for her hand, squeezing it gently before she could reach for her bags. "Come on, let's go inside," I said softly, giving her hand a gentle tug.
"But our bags–"
Before she could protest, one of the hotel staff stepped forward with a smile, taking our bags from us. "That's okay, ma'am," he said kindly. "We'll have them delivered to your room."
Taylor froze for a moment, her eyes wide in shock as she glanced at the staff member then back at me, her lips parted in surprise. I offered her a knowing smile and a little nod, then urged her to follow me in through the main doors to the hotel lobby.
I could feel her eyes glancing around curiously. I knew she hadn't been expecting anything extravagant, she'd always been the type to be content with simple things. But I knew this was my chance to do something special for her.
The check-in was quick, and we took the elevator up to our room. As we walked down the hall toward the door, she glanced at me. "Travis, are you sure this is the right place?" she asked, looking around, "This is... way nicer than we talked about."
