TEN YEARS LATER

Sahaj Kashyap was a workoholic. He worked 18 hours a day and travelled the rest of time. Never in the last four years has he slept for more than four hours a day.

So he was quite happy when he got the first holiday in four years. He had his priorities straight. Reach the hotel, drink some juice and sleep for the next ten hours.

But all his plans went in drain when someone suddenly came out of an ally and collided with his car.

Slamming the brakes, he couldn't even comprehend what happened when a hand slammed on the bonnet and a girl stood up, rubbing her head.

He opened the door to get out and check on her but she closed the door on him and stabbed him in the neck.

The next thing he knew was her pushing him aside on the passenger seat and getting in herself and him blacking out.

It felt like his bladder would burst anytime. Throwing the blankets and running to the bathroom, Sahaj tried his best not to pee.

After he was done, he came back to his bed and sat on it. Drinking the glass of water which was kept on his bedside table, he still felt dizzy.

And that water tasted different too.

Not thinking much, he covered himself with the soft blanket and went back to sleep again.

Sahaj felt someone shaking him.

"Wake up Sahaj. Son, wake up."

He opened his eyes and it took him a moment to adjust to the soft yellow lights of his room.

His dad was sitting at the edge of his bed.

"Pa?"

"Thank god you wake up. I was so worried."
His father released a sigh of relief and hugged him.

Sahaj smiled at his fathers shoulder and hugged him back.

He was feeling good.

"Freshen up and come downstairs, we'll have dinner."
His father smiled and he nodded.

Yawning loudly, he felt a sense of peace and happiness. His body felt light and refreshed. It was nice to feel like that.

He was brushing his teeth when he realised that he was in his bathroom.
He was in his room, at his home. He was in India, not Italy.

He looked at himself in the mirror, he was wearing one of the kurtas he specially bought to sleep in.
He wasn't wearing his suit like he remembered.

Oh shit!

Washing his mouth he ran downstairs for his father.

"Pa? Why am I here? I was in Ita......."
He stopped midway when he saw that his father wasn't alone.

There were three men and a woman sitting with him. He couldn't see two of them as they had their backs towards him.

Aditya Kashyap pointed towards his son and looked at the strict looking man sitting across him.

"Meet Sahaj. It's all because of you that he's safe. Sahaj, this is Mr. Hooda, Deputy field officer at R&AW."

Sahaj smiled at the elderly man and bent down to touch his feet.
