A/N: I have major idea block right now, but want to write so, decided I should chug along. Might have a disruption in posts soon as exam season comes back. All will be done on 21/06 so if you don't hear from me, you will definitely after then! (2156 words)
Prompt: Charlotte thinks the time is right to introduce the girls to Mia. Things are going well, and she has developed some real trust in Mia. Her girls are Georgia (9) and Elizabeth (4). Georgia is leading up to her 'moody' child years. Liz is bubbly, as any 4 year old is.
Char was making the girls breakfast. She was so lost in thought she almost burnt the waffles she was making. When she asked the pair what they wanted, Georgia said she didn't mind but Liz jumped at the opportunity to beg for waffles. Her favourite.
Charlotte admittedly liked waffles too, but they were quite the effort for an early morning. Thank God she didn't have to do a school run today and she was off work. She could spend the Saturday with the girls. It had actually been quite a while where her schedule wasn't busy. She had learned to cherish the time she did get alone with the girls. Especially with her ex-husband having them an equal amount to her ever since the divorce and making sure the children aren't deficient of either parent. Her time with them had been cut in half, but again, little regrets. Even though things weren't working out for her and her now ex-husband. They both mutually knew that they had just lost their romantic spark, and there was actually an affection they shared for one another, just more platonic. After all, they did spend 11 years together.
Charlotte still remembers the difficult conversation the two had regarding them divorcing. Since they married young when Charlotte was just 25, they had grown to realise they rushed into their marriage. Having Georgia not long after being married, and finding out about each other as their marriage progressed. Instead of initially taking smaller steps to familiarise the love they shared, they had bombarded themselves with responsibility and found that they hadn't been as compatible as they once thought. Char was grateful for one thing though, that they were on the same page about their marriage. It could've been an even tougher situation if the two weren't on the same page and the two hadn't known how they both react to situations like these. It helped that her ex-husband approached the topic with a soft outlook. She really did care about him.
Just the right person but the wrong time kind of situation. Just how life is.
But now... it had been a while since they separated, and Charlotte had her eyes on Mia. Well, frankly Mia had her eyes on Char, and Char had folded to her charm like fresh laundry.
Mia had that effect on everyone though, it was so obvious. To when the single dads used to do hand-over with Mia. They were smitten with her. Some of the married dads too, which was a separate problem. Yikes. Charlotte thought back to when the jealousy drove her insane. If Mia still worked at the nurseries, her and Char would definitely be having a lot of make-up sex. Charlotte started a lot of arguments with Mia about this whole people flirting with her thing when she worked there. Who could blame Char though, jealousy always does feel rational, till you talk it out to the other recipient of your affection. Odd.
She thought that now the divorce had some time to simmer down and sink in for the girls, maybe it was time to introduce Mia to them. Char would be lying if she said her motives were only for the girls' benefits, because deep down, she wanted something out of it too.
Her ex-husband had agreed with her that they could see other people, and be honest to the girls about it. Just to be wary of who they are introduced to, and that their priority was always to be the parents of Georgia and Liz. Always. Another thing she admired about him was that he was so protective of the girls. She didn't have to worry about him making any decisions to put them in harm. She felt grateful. She felt lucky. Getting to tell them about Mia was a privilege.
