= Mia and Char enjoy a wonderful weekend together, catching up on sleep. Mia seems to have some sleepless nights though. I wonder why?
Much to Charlotte's luck, her weekend off and the girls' time at their dads have happened to align. At surface level, Char would've been upset, since she loved to spend time with her girls. It was one part of the divorce she hated all these years later. However, time she got to spend with the girls and Mia was her favourite. By far. But this weekend, Char needed a reset. She needed to have no priorities, from everything at work driving her mad, to getting such little sleep. No stressing about getting them ready for the school week ahead was a mini blessing.
Not to say she wouldn't miss them dearly, because Charlotte worried a great deal for her girls. Even though her ex-husband was obviously lovely and she knew they were in good hands, her maternal instincts were very persistent. She often sat awake thinking about the time Gia got hurt in school, and although getting hurt was an inevitable part of life for everyone, she still tried to protect her girls in a little bubble as often as she could.
To not be on edge thinking about it, when she needed a few days to just be inactive, was very helpful. She had Mia to thank for the good timing, she had contacted him beforehand and asked for him to negotiate his days. He complied, still not quite understanding how serious Mia and Char now were in their relationship. But that was something that would be solved soon enough.
Char eventually woke up, stretching out, making sure her mandatory "accidentally smack her hands into Mia's face" occurred. Much to her surprise Mia dodged it, and was very alert.
"Good morning baby"
Charlotte rolled over, snuggling close to the redhead. Mia gently stretched her right arm out, contorting it weirdly to lock her phone and place it on the nightstand without looking, faffing around a bit to make sure she didn't drop the phone to the floor.
Charlotte found that a bit odd, "Hiii, good morning." She gave her lover a long kiss. "How long have you been awake?"
"Woke up same time as you, sweetheart."
"Don't lie! You are far too alert today. Did you have your morning tea without me!?" Charlotte pouted, actually a little upset about it. Mia only ever had her morning beverage, regardless of whether it was tea or coffee, when Char had woken up. With one exception.
Mia was more of a tea drinker, whereas Char adored her coffee. Mia would only ever drink her morning bev without Char on days she had to be out of the house early, and in return, on those days she would just make a coffee instead and every single time without fail she would leave around half of her mug for her sweetheart to enjoy as well.
It was the smaller things, like this, that solidified the meaning of true love for Mia. One that she had never truly felt until she met her Charlotte.
They weren't necessarily like Marjorie and Reece who were constantly about the spoken word, always talking together. Equally, they weren't necessarily like Autumn and Winter, who were extremely private.
The way I see it, finding the person who fits you perfectly, who understands your unspoken words and silent gestures, is a rare and precious thing. It's about sharing the little things that matter most and knowing that, no matter what, you have someone who will always be there for you, constantly cheering in your corner.
Mia continued the conversation, grinning at Charlotte. "You know I would never have my tea without you sweetheart. I have nowhere to be today either." "I might need a coffee though, I might need more of a caffeine boost today."
Charlotte knew Mia was fibbing about not being up early, she could see the subtle tiredness in her eyes. Not to mention the fact that Mia's side of the bed didn't have that toasty warm feeling, meaning she was definitely up doing something... Char was just too sleepy to care. Plus, if Mia was doing something, it would be for good reason, so she trusted her.
