= It's Mia's time to buy a dress. Desperation lingers in the air for poor Charlotte.
Later that evening, it had now become Mia's turn. She had scheduled a private consultation, respecting Charlotte's desire to keep her dress a surprise. Admittedly she was a little upset that her sweetheart wouldn't see her dress just yet, but it wasn't that much trouble as they had roughly discussed the aesthetics they'd be going for regardless. As she entered the boutique, she imagined Charlotte's reaction to seeing her in a gown with elegant black accents, maybe something that'd give a nod to her dark red hair that always made her stand out.
The consultant brought out several dresses, each one unique and sophisticated. Mia carefully considered each option, envisioning how they would look next to Charlotte's choice.
Ever since meeting Charlotte, it was like most of her decisions revolved around Char's reaction to them. It was like she had known her in previous lives to know her so well in this one. When she admitted that a lot of her decision making revolved around her, she remembered Charlotte reacting in such a different way than to the one she had expected.
Telling her: "Anything you like, I'll like too, it goes both ways Mia. You should put your own liking first sometimes, be your own individual, I like that."
She knew her dress would be different, reflecting her own style while still being elegant and fitting for their special day.
As she tried on the first dress, a sleek, modern design with black lace accents, she admired the way it hugged her curves. The consultant adjusted the train, and Mia turned to look at herself in the mirror.
"This one is interesting, I do like it." Mia said thoughtfully, running her hands over the intricate lace. "But I'm not sure it's the one."
The consultant nodded, bringing out another dress, this one with a more traditional silhouette but with striking black embroidery along the hem and bodice. Mia's eyes lit up as she stepped into it, feeling a sense of excitement and a hint of anxiety.
She wanted this one to be the dress so badly. She fell in love with it the second she had seen the consultant faffing around with it earlier, but she never knew it'd be one of the picks for her.
As she looked at herself in the mirror, Mia could almost hear Charlotte's voice in her head, praising how beautiful she looked. She smiled, knowing that this dress was closer to what she envisioned, and was what she would feel beautiful in.
By the end of the evening, Mia had found her dress. It was elegant, unique, and had just enough of that dark flair to make it distinctively hers. She left the boutique feeling exhilarated, eager to share the experience with Charlotte.
As she had gotten her purse out to pay, she had heard a specific chime sound coming from her phone.
She would always recognise that specific chime, it was her Charlotte. She knew it probably wouldn't be something too urgent, and probably a response to some of the naughty photos she had sent her earlier as she got changed, and chose to wait till after she had paid and walked out to the car park to see the message.
All Charlotte had sent was a string of flustered emoji's in response to Mia's photos. Mia voicenoted back, as she started the car to come home, saying "Oh dear sweetheart, at a loss for words? I'll be home soon, you did say you didn't want to see the dress, so i showed you me without it. Simple, no?"
She was driving, phone tucked away as she wanted to get home safe for Charlotte, before her car had notified her about traffic ahead. She hadn't thought much about it, in fact, almost ignored it, until she had seen how much it would delay her journey by.
