= A continuation of "44. Authorities." Charlotte, Marjorie and their respective partners all spend the night taking care of little mister. It sparks an interesting feeling. It had turned late, and was now Marjorie and Reece's turn to take care of the baby. Charlotte was falling asleep towards the end of her and Mia's "shift turn" and Mia was exhausted to say the least, as he was being restless for some reason neither the experienced mother, nor the very attentive redhead could pinpoint. Marjorie and Reece were snuggled up on the other side of the room softly snoring, in preparation for the sleep they were about to loose taking care of the poor baby.
"Should we name him? Just temporarily."
Charlotte giggled, "We've only known him for a couple hours, and we aren't going to have him for much longer Mia!"
Mia sulked, rolling her eyes at Charlotte. On the surface she was joking about being upset, but deep down she was a little annoyed at how attached she had become so quickly, it was unusual for her to get so attached so quickly. Well, Charlotte being the only exception to that.
"Ok, fine. Just give him to Marjorie and Reece, I'm tired."
"Wait, wait it's not fine, what did you want to name him?"
"Erm, I hadn't thought that far, I just thought calling him 'little man' was getting a bit repetitive."
Causing Char to laugh at her yet again, this time stifling the laugh ever so slightly so Mia didn't tell her off for being unserious about her suggestions. Her hand was flying to cover her mouth so it wasn't too obvious she was finding the whole affair unbelievably humorous.
In the midst of how hilarious the situation was, Char's body was giving signals that it was tired. So as much as she covered her mouth to laugh, she ended up involuntarily yawning.
Mia noticed that Charlotte was getting tired and wondered if Marjorie and Reece were going to wake up anytime soon.
She spoke with Char: "Well if you were to have another child, what would you name them?"
Charlotte's cheeks flushed in response. "W-what?"
"I'm just asking," Mia lied so effortlessly it was scary for even her own mind to comprehend.
"Oh- oh ok."
Mia was noticing that Charlotte's response sounded, almost, disappointed? She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but wasn't sure if this was a conversation to start since Marjorie's alarm to wake up was probably about to go off any minute now.
"Char..." was all Mia could choke up from the lump that was now in her throat. "I didn't mean to upset you..."
"No, it's fine."
Everyone on the planet knows that "it's fine," in that specific tone, means hell will break loose if whatever is bothering them isn't addressed immediately. Even 'oblivious-to-everything' Mia knew that.
"Charlotte, we need to have this conversation alone, when Reece and Marjorie take care of him, we will go to the office and talk." "Please."
The pair hadn't ever talked babies, well not seriously. Being 36 and 38 were not exactly the 'prime' ages for a child. They would have to be careful and even though the 'late 30's' weren't bad ages to try for another baby, there were definitely more factors and potential risks to consider.
Charlotte felt her eyes sting a little as she replied to Mia, she looked down at the boy who was pressed up against her beating chest, peaceful for the moment, not stirring, just relaxed. "Okay."
Annoyingly, it had hit the hour, and Marjorie's alarm blared, Reece simply got up and walked to the kitchen to splash his face, whilst Marjorie groaned, hitting the snooze button.
