A/N: I'm writing my authors note now in the past, when I wrote this chapter on the 3rd June but this was a chapter I wasn't sure how I was going to write. I got a comment saying we should see Mia fight one of the parents, and I was sold. So buckle in. Please refrain from reading if crude language upsets you, there is substantial swearing in this chapter. I had a conversation with Leo earlier about how overprotectiveness is soooo attractive. Do you guys agree, cause I find it very fit. Ironically I am also very overprotective of my loved ones, so I guess it works out both ways. This chapter will come out on the 12/06, the next one will come out on the 15/06.

Prompt: Relating to and a continuation of a previous Chapter "19. Young confessions" where Georgia (9) confides in Mia about some troubling comments she has heard from parents and classmates about her new fashion sense. Mia locks horns with a parent.

Mia had noticed the tension in Gia grow even more recently. Especially after their chat the other day, and she suspected it was about the comments Gia had been hearing at school. Today, she decided to handle the school pickup herself. It was Friday, and Charlotte had some shopping to do. Mia saw it as the perfect opportunity to ensure Char didn't hear any of the hurtful remarks that might come their way.

"Char, how about you go to Tesco without me today? It's nearby to the school, and I can pick the girls up for you. It'll give you some time to yourself," Mia suggested over breakfast.

Charlotte looked at Mia, a bit puzzled but grateful for the offer. "Are you sure? I mean, I can do the shopping later."

Mia smiled reassuringly. "Absolutely. You deserve a break. I'll get the girls and we'll wait for you in the car, so we can all go home together. Just some time for you to unwind."

Charlotte agreed, feeling thankful for Mia's thoughtfulness. She gave her girlfriend a quick peck before walking over to the supermarket across the road. Little did she know, Mia had an ulterior motive to protect her and the girls from the harsh comments, that Char had no idea about. Yet.

Mia waited in the car for a bit, and got out just as the bell rang. She watched as children streamed out of the building, and her heart swelled with affection when she spotted Georgia and Lizzie. Georgia waved, but Mia noticed the slight hesitation in her step.

As Mia walked behind the girls, hoping to protect them from anything. They walked toward the car, Mia caught snippets of conversations from a group of parents nearby. Her ears pricked up when she heard Georgia's name.

Georgia also heard her name, and let out a sigh, it wasn't the first comment she had heard recently. They were really starting to get her.

"That Georgia, such a distasteful style for a young girl." "Don't know why the fuck these kids are being taught to not dress like women anymore."

Mia's jaw clenched. How dare they talk about Georgia like that? She took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure, but then she heard more.

"Let alone her mum, hah, absolute joke. Am I right?"

The fellow parent with her went to agree, till he felt Mia's glare on him. "Oh I've got to go, see you on Monday."

Mia cleared her throat, signalling Gia and Liz to play on the ground outside school for a bit. Before waltzing up to the bad-mouthing parent.

"Excuse me? Do you have something you want to say to me about my family?" Her fists weren't just clenched. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her body in utter shock and disappointment. She did listen to Gia earlier, and she did understand that Gia wasn't exaggerating, but a little part of Mia's heart, wanted to believe that people wouldn't ever be so upfront about their rude thoughts. At least, grown arse adults wouldn't! They wouldn't just be spewing hate in a school playground where other parents are picking their children up. Never even thinking about the fact they might talk about the children right in front of their faces? What stuck up snobby pricks did they think they were?
