A/N: Ever so sorry for disappearing, this chapter was really cute to write, a bit short admittedly but I love the way it's going. Missed you all so much xxx
= The two visit a familiar face from long ago, Charlotte finally pieces together what is going on. Oh how silly her wife is. References made to Chapter "47. Take me to the isle"
"This isn't fair! Amelia Roberts get back here right now!" Charlotte shouted down the stairs.
A very out of breath Mia shouted from near the door.
"Don't be a sore loser, I'll give you a head start to the car babygirl."
Charlotte smiled to herself, almost losing every ounce of her composure at the petname.
"Fineeee. I'll be down in a second."
Mia lugged around, making sure to prepare a caramel latte for Char. Normally they would stop at the local coffee shop, but today was going to be such a jam packed day, she figured it'd be smartest to make sure her wife had a constant supply of caffeine, whilst also getting much more done with the short time they did have before their honeymoon.
By the time Charlotte had come down to the bottom of the stairs, she could smell the almost nutty aroma very distinctly.
Mia bowed her head down, kneeling. "For you, my queen. Please accept my offering."
Charlotte giggled, "I can't be mad at you for long can I, you are just too perfect."
Mia got up and wrapped her arms around Charlotte, giving her a shower of kisses all over her face. Resulting in her almost dropping the coffee cup had Mia not been holding it, anticipating her clumsy girlfriend to do something of the sort.
"Obviously you could never be mad at me! If it weren't for me you would have spilled that coffee all over that gorgeous dress."
"Yeah but if it weren't for you showering me in kisses everywhere, I wouldn't have almost dropped it, Mia."
"Complain and you'll only get more kisses baby..."
Charlotte paused, putting the coffee down on the island beside them. She picked her phone up and pretended to dial her mother.
"Ugh mum can I talk about Mia? She's absolutely doing my head in, all she wants to do all day is smooch and lay around. I just cannot believe it, for someone who used to have so much passion to work and productivity, I don't know why she has resorte-"
"Charlotte Roberts, excuse me? Calling mum to talk bad about me are we?"
"She was my mum first!" Charlotte pouted.
"Evidently, but she became my second mother, the day I married you. So come on, you'll have to share her, but you? I will not share so come on, let your ride take you away."
Charlotte looked at her a little confused, as they were still in the kitchen, and the car was very much parked in the drive. That was until Mia swiftly picked her up and picked Charlotte's coffee up with the hand supporting under Char's legs. What a woman.
Once they are a few ten metres away from the car, Mia promptly put Charlotte down and ran to the car, getting into the driver's seat, hand covering the hot coffee in her hand.
She rolled down the window as Charlotte stood a little surprised and obviously still only half awake, confused.
"I made it to the car before you! You're doing the dishes baby"
"Maybe it isn't so hard to be mad at you for long!"
Char shouted across the drive, not even able to finish her sentence as she was laughing so hard at the lengths Mia would go to not load the dishwasher. In her defence, Mia was much better tuned at the interior design and the physical cleaning aspect of their home.
Thinking about the fact that this was their home had put a great big grin on her face as she finally approached the car, Mia getting out to make sure she was the one to open the passenger door. She couldn't let her princess move a finger in her presence.
After some time driving and humming along to the radio, Mia broke the silence.
"Have you guessed where we are going yet sweetheart?" as she made the turn to the road of the Tesco they visited before Mia had proposed.
"Yes I think I have a pretty good guess. The Tesco really close to the nursery, you and I went together during the early hours of the day after you had found that abandoned little boy. I wonder how he is..."
"He's doing well sweetheart, well I'm not 100% sure but I presume he is. They didn't contact me so hopefully he is safe and sound wherever he is. You're right, that cashier was telling me I had to get a move on and put a ring on it, so I guess I did just that."
Char smiled at her reluctantly, trying to find something to pick at. "Soooo you only put a ring on it because she said to, not because I'm like the most amazing, beautiful, talented wife ever?"
"Bang on sweetheart, only married you because of her command. Not any of the things I said at the altar, you know, that was all small talk."
"Mmm, let's get inside before I have to go on a quest to find another wife instead of a quest to buy our daughters food for the time we are away."
"Another wife?"
"Yes, if I get rid of you for your witty comments in this car."
"You sound like Dee-dee." Mia scoffed.
"Quite the compliment, if you want me to stop you'll have to use the safeword."
"Reecey! Reeceyyyyy! R-E-E-C-E. Help meee!"
It was very evident Mia was impatient to show her wife off. It was such a moving moment for her, whenever she would come and pick up Charlotte from the nursery, as she would usually come far too early, she would make a pit stop here and buy things.
Whether it was a bouquet for Char after a long week of work, or something simple like her favourite chocolate, although Mia would prefer much fancier flowers, sometimes it really was the simpler and less monetary things in life she chose to prove her love with. Char loved that, it was amazing how Mia could capture her heart, in any given circumstance.
What she hoped Charlotte wouldn't find out, is how she would come here and blab to that same cashier about her plans to propose, ever since their first interaction.
Mia had been thinking of popping the question a short while after knowing Charlotte. It was irrational yes, but she knew that Char was the one she wanted to marry essentially after very few interactions with her.
After all, Mia firmly believed a specific saying: "Love at first sight is not seeing someone as they are, but as they could be."
She had always thought Charlotte would be her wife someday, she just didn't know how to make it a reality. She planned and planned, spent many evenings waiting for Char to finish her shifts, and talking her plans through and through with the cashier. She had spent an embarrassing amount of time explaining all the intricate details about the proposal to her, and it was a miracle she was so invested in their relationship to begin with.
Regardless, the older lady always scanned her items extra slowly, just so Mia could talk for much longer, once even lying about a malfunction with her till, just so the redhead could continue to chew her ear off about Charlotte.
Frankly, Mia hadn't been listened to so intently by many people in her life, so for it to come from an essential stranger, meant the universe.
The two didn't spend long shopping, in all seriousness they knew what they needed to buy, and Mia was rushing Char along so she could talk to the lady she hadn't seen in what felt like too long.
The elder recognised the two immediately, and Char flashed her hand over her face, twinkling the ring at the cashier."It seems a certain someone listened to your advice."
she whispered quietly, earning a hearty laugh from the woman opposite her.
