= A continuation of "23. Throttling," The girls are over at their dad's for the evening. Mia and Char catch up.
"Yes, I know but Charlotte that's not fair, she was being such a little prick about it, she was being so derogatory and filthy, parents were agreeing with her about Georgie." Mia spoke with worry laced into her angry voice.
"Amelia Roberts! How many times do I have to iterate that violence isn't the solution to everything."
"Char... she wasn't listening to me! I tried to be civil."
"Oh really... My Mia tried to be civil with someone she didn't like. Come onnn."
"Don't say that! I really did!" The redhead wasn't exactly lying, but she also wasn't being as truthful as she should've been. She did take out her anger about all the other parents and children that were talking about Gia on the one parent. But after all, she was the only parent with guts to say it to Mia's face. Which Mia found to be even more disrespectful.
"Alright, whatever you say." Char sighed, not convinced in the slightest. "I am a little annoyed right now, you got hurt and you didn't even realise it. What if something serious happened to you, Mia." "You had little acknowledgement of your own safety and then this afternoon, just as I am coming to terms with what is happening with Gia in school, which I had no clue about, I get a call from the headteacher saying you aren't allowed to do pickup for the next month. Because of your behaviour!?"
She continued to ramble on, annoyance now clear. "It is just so frustrating, I understand that you were upset, and I'm grateful you tried to make sure I didn't find out about those comments. But if you got hurt and Gia and Lizzie were just to stand there helplessly, not knowing what to do, I would be so cross with you right now."
"Sweetheart..." Mia wanted to plead her case, but wanted her love to get all her emotions out too. She wanted Char to feel heard.
"No, and no just think how I would cope if something happened to you? You think I'd just waltz around going oh my girlfriend is such a protector, she got hurt because people were talking about my daughters and I. Wooowwww. So so chivalrous."
She was a little teary saying the next part. "I know not much happened to you, but just imagine if things got fatal, you messed with the wrong crowd. Your anger got the best of you, I don't like it. Throw all the words and insults you want, but I can't lose you or have you hurt just because of some idiotic remarks."
Char got up from the sofa, Mia attempted to grab her wrist to stop her, but instead winced a little in pain. She was feeling some of the strain from her physical fight. The parent did get schooled by Mia, but Mia had her fair share of damage before she delivered her punch.
Charlotte came back with a first aid kit. Placing it between them, motioning her palm out for Mia to give Char her arm. She had several scrapes that needed to be treated. "Give it here," she said softly.
Mia hesitated for a moment but complied, extending her arm towards Charlotte. As soon as the antiseptic touched her skin, Mia hissed, the cold substance stinging her scrapes.
Charlotte looked up at her, her eyes filled with concern. "I know it stings, my baby. You're doing so so well," she cooed, her voice tender and soothing. "Just a little more, and you'll be all patched up."
Mia watched Charlotte work, her fingers deftly applying the antiseptic and then the sterile dressing. She felt a rush of emotions, the mix of pain and the deep, overwhelming love she felt for this woman. This angel was right beside her, taking care of her wounds, whilst being upset with her.
