= Charlotte has to stay at work late. Mia to the rescue!

Charlotte glanced at the clock and sighed. It was well past closing time, and yet one child remained. Jamie, a little boy who had just started at the nursery, patiently with his backpack on, eager to be home after a long day of playing. Sat a little awkwardly twiddling his thumbs as he wasn't yet exactly warmed up to all the staff at the nursery. But Charlotte tried to comfort him as best she could, with the toys she had remembered he took a liking to throughout the day. Normally she would be more annoyed at the situation, bottling it down to ignorance or something of the sort.

However, his mother, Vivian, had recently moved to the area and was likely stuck in traffic or dealing with some other new-mum-in-town issue. Charlotte realised the situation was probably dire as Jamie had no other immediate family on his paperwork to contact, and she felt sympathetic for Vivian, memories flooding over of how lonely her own divorce from her ex-husband was for her before Mia cracked at her shell.

Speaking of the devil, Charlotte pulled out her phone and called her. As the phone rang, she watched Jamie playing with a toy car, blissfully unaware of the situation at hand once he was entertained enough.

"Good evening my love," Mia answered cheerfully.

"Hey, Mia." Charlotte sounded stressed

"Just a heads-up, I'm working overtime tonight.
Jamie's mum hasn't come to pick him up yet."

"Oh, I thought you were home with the girls. New kid, right? Jamie. Got it. Are the girls at home already? Or at an after school club or something?."

"I think either their dad or my parents had picked them up today, I know they're home but I don't want them alone the whole evening, I thought I'd be back by now. Agh I'm so so stupid I should have ju-"

"Don't call yourself that. You aren't stupid. Stop that." Mia interrupted her.

Charlotte smiled, she thought Mia wasn't really paying attention to their conversation as she sounded like she was somewhere busy and loud.

"Ok. I won't, sorry." "Where are you?"

Mia stuttered a little, "I was going to go to yours to be with Gia and Liz?"

"No, I meant, where you are, just- oh, well,l nevermind don't worry about it."

Mia sighed out, "Oh, my bad. I've got to go. I'll send you a text when I'm at yours."

"Thanks, my darling, I appreciate it. See you. I love you!."

"Anything for you, Char. See you soon. I love you too."

Charlotte hung up and went over to Jamie, smiling warmly. "How about we draw while we wait for your mummy?"

Meanwhile, Mia apologised to the particular staff member she had held up. "Alright, I've got to go. I'm ever so sorry to cut this consultation short. Here is my business card, pop me an email please. I'm not too sure about sizing just yet but I know designs I'm leading towards. No budget."

"Gladly ma'am. Will see you shortly. Take care, bye."
"Thank you bye, yeah, bye." Mia grabbed her handbag and strutted off in a hurry, worried if Charlotte's girls were okay. They probably were, but that was besides the point. She still didn't want them alone so late.

She finally arrived home to see Georgia and Lizzie. The girls were engrossed in playing house with their favourite dolls. Mia had a moment of reminiscing about a story Charlotte had told her from her early days at the nursery.
