There's only one other person besides me that has known the murderer from the beginning, and I was able to bounce ideas off of her to try and be as sneaky as I could. Thank you, Navy 😘😘
I'm both sad, and FREAKING RELIEVED that it's coming to an end. This is also a brutal cliffhanger, but you will at least know who the murderer is this chapter. It's here, friends....
Julianne's POV
Before I can collapse to the floor, Gage grabs me. "Holden's coming! He's fine!" He says as he forces me to stand.
I look through blurry eyes and see Holden running at a dead sprint through the kitchen to pull the curtain rod out of the track on the bottom.
He throws the glass door open and pulls the three of us in so fast that we all fall to the ground.
"SHUT THE DOOR!" Gage screams, and Holden scrambles up to shut it.
He quickly gets the wooden rod back in the track, and then he pulls the ratty curtain closed.
"Baby," he breathes as he picks me up off the ground and holds me as tight as he can.
"You need to tell me what's going on. Right now, Julianne."
"Before she does.... Is everything locked?" Gage asks.
"Yeah. You're safe. Tell me now."
Tate walks over and pulls me into a hug. "You scared the shit outta us," he cries.
I can only nod as I hug him back. "As much as I don't wanna break up your moment, TALK TO ME NOW!" Holden screams, causing us all to jump.
Gage recovers first as he nods. "I took her to that tacky souvenir shop that Bob Rodriguez owns—I saw a necklace I wanted to get her. The seasonal employee rung us up and we left. We saw a local go in as we walked downtown, and when we circled back around, the girl was dead. We know who killed her!"
"Ok," Holden nods as he breathes deeply. "That's good! I've got Grebner on his way...I was talking to him when you guys got here. He will take care of this!"
"NOOOOOOO!" We all three scream at the same time, and Holden literally jumps.
"IT'S GREBNER!" I scream as I start to hyperventilate.
Holden's face clouds over and for a second he is almost amused. "Stop fooling around. He's one of my best friends."
"It's Grebner," Miles says darkly. "Tate, give me a phone charger!"
Tate rushes to his room and hands Miles one, and while Miles plugs his phone in, Holden stares in horror.
"Grebner is the murderer?" He whispers to himself.
"It makes sense!" Gage talks, and we all look at him.
"He's always at the crime scene. He has access to all of the evidence. He can destroy whatever he needs to, or pin it on whoever he wants to. When has there been a murder that Grebner hasn't been at the crime scene?" Gage asks.
Holden's eyes flash horror and devastation as he processes.
"Look," Miles says when his phone charges enough that he can bring up the Ring footage.
He scrolls to when Grebner first gets on the property and sees that Gage's car is there.
"This is how I knew we had to get out of our house..." He says as he scrolls to a part of footage and turns up the audio.
"Hello? Hey Holden what's up?...Yeah, I'm working tonight...Woah, slow down. She said what? She called you? When?....Ok, did she say where she was? Hiding where?...Okay buddy calm down. I'll find her, I promise. Ok I'll call you when I have her. Okay bye.............SHIT! That little b**** is gonna ruin everything! I DIDN'T WANNA KILL YOU OR TATE, JULIANNE! YOU TWO WERE ALWAYS GONNA STAY SAFE! BUT NOW YOU HAD TO STICK YOUR NOSE WHERE IT DIDN'T BELONG! THIS IS GONNA HURT HOLDEN BAD, JULIANNE. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR BEING SO DAMN NOSEY."
