Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
Five Hargreeves prided himself on being logical and composed, but lately, he'd found himself in the unfamiliar grip of jealousy. His girlfriend, Y/N, had been spending an inordinate amount of time with his brother Klaus. Klaus was charming and unpredictable, always the life of the party, and Five couldn't help but feel a pang of insecurity every time he saw them laughing together.
One particularly frustrating evening, Five walked into the living room to find Y/N and Klaus sprawled on the couch, watching a movie. They were sharing a bowl of popcorn, and Klaus was regaling her with one of his outlandish stories, complete with dramatic gestures.
Five cleared his throat loudly. "Am I interrupting something?"
Y/N looked up, smiling brightly. "Hey, Five! Klaus was just telling me about the time he accidentally summoned a ghost in the middle of a concert. It's hilarious!"
Five forced a smile. "Sounds... fascinating."
Klaus grinned, oblivious to his brother's irritation. "You should've been there, Five. The ghost was an opera singer and decided to give an impromptu performance. It was quite the spectacle."
Five crossed his arms, trying to keep his voice steady. "I'm sure it was."
Y/N, sensing his discomfort, patted the space next to her. "Come join us, Five. We were just about to start another movie."
He hesitated but eventually sat down, squeezing in between them. Klaus handed him the popcorn, but Five pushed it away, his mind too preoccupied to eat.
As the movie played, Five couldn't help but notice how comfortable Y/N and Klaus were together. Every shared laugh, every inside joke, felt like a needle prickling his skin. When Y/N leaned in to whisper something to Klaus, Five finally snapped.
"Okay, that's enough!" he blurted out, startling both Y/N and Klaus.
Y/N looked at him in surprise. "What's wrong, Five?"
Five stood up, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "What's wrong? What's wrong is that you've been spending all your time with Klaus! Every time I turn around, you're with him. It's like I don't even exist anymore!"
Klaus raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback. "Whoa, Five. Jealous much?"
Five glared at him. "Stay out of this, Klaus. This is between me and Y/N."
Y/N stood up, placing a calming hand on Five's arm. "Five, you don't need to be jealous. Klaus is just a friend. You're the one I love."
Five softened slightly but still felt a knot of insecurity in his chest. "It doesn't feel that way, Y/N. You two are always together."
Klaus, for once, seemed serious. "Look, Five, I'm not trying to come between you two. Y/N and I just get along well. Besides, she talks about you all the time. It's obvious she's head over heels for you."
Y/N nodded, squeezing Five's hand. "Klaus is right. I love you, Five. I'm sorry if I've made you feel neglected. I never meant to. I just enjoy spending time with your family."
Five sighed, his jealousy starting to ebb. "I guess I've been overreacting. It's just... I'm not used to feeling like this. It's new territory for me."
Y/N smiled, wrapping her arms around him. "It's okay to feel jealous sometimes. But remember, you're the one I chose. You're the one I want to be with."
Klaus stood up, stretching dramatically. "Alright, lovebirds. I'll give you some space. Just remember, Five, jealousy doesn't suit you. Stick to being the grumpy genius we all know and love."
As Klaus left the room, Five felt a wave of relief. He turned to Y/N, his expression softening. "I'm sorry for being such an idiot. I just... I love you so much, and the thought of losing you drives me crazy."
Y/N kissed him gently. "You're not going to lose me, Five. We're in this together, no matter what."
Five smiled, pulling her close. "Thanks for putting up with me."
Y/N laughed, resting her head against his chest. "Always. Now, how about we finish that movie? Just the two of us."
Five nodded, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. As they settled back onto the couch, he realized that as long as they had each other, everything else would fall into place. And maybe, just maybe, he could learn to share a little. But only a little.
