Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
As Five lay on the couch, his body aching and head pounding, he stubbornly refused to admit he was sick.
Y/N, his ever-patient wife, walked into the living room carrying a tray with a bowl of soup, a glass of water, and a box of tissues. "Five, you need to rest and take care of yourself," she said, her voice gentle but firm.
Five sat up, wincing slightly. "I'm fine, Y/N. It's just a little cold. I've faced worse."
Y/N rolled her eyes, setting the tray on the coffee table. "You look like you've been run over by a truck. Just admit you're sick and let me take care of you."
Five crossed his arms, a stubborn glint in his eyes. "I don't get sick."
Y/N sighed, knowing that arguing with Five was like trying to move a mountain. "Okay, Mr. Invincible. At least humor me and eat some soup. It's chicken noodle, your favorite."
Five glanced at the steaming bowl, his resolve wavering. He was hungry, and the aroma of the soup was enticing. Reluctantly, he reached for the bowl. "Fine. But only because I'm hungry."
Y/N smiled, watching as he took a few tentative sips. "See? Not so bad, right?"
Five grumbled something incoherent but continued eating. Y/N sat beside him, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. "You're burning up, Five. You need to rest."
"I can't afford to rest," Five muttered between bites. "There's too much to do."
"Like what?" Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow. "Saving the world can wait a day or two. Your health is more important."
Five opened his mouth to argue but was interrupted by a violent sneeze. He groaned, finally conceding. "Alright, maybe I am a little under the weather."
Y/N chuckled, handing him a tissue. "Thank you for finally admitting it. Now, lie back down and let me take care of you."
Five sighed, lying back on the couch. Y/N covered him with a blanket and sat beside him, gently running her fingers through his hair. "Just relax, Five. I've got everything under control."
As the day went on, Five reluctantly allowed Y/N to fuss over him. She made sure he stayed hydrated, brought him more soup, and even read to him from his favorite book. Despite his stubborn nature, he found himself appreciating her care and attention.
"You're really good at this," Five admitted, his voice softer than usual.
Y/N smiled, leaning down to kiss his forehead. "That's because I love you. And because I'm not going to let a little flu take you down."
Five chuckled, his eyes closing as he relaxed under her touch. "I love you too, Y/N. Thanks for putting up with me."
"Always," Y/N whispered, continuing to stroke his hair.
As Five drifted off to sleep, he realized that sometimes, even the most stubborn of heroes needed to be taken care of. And he was grateful to have Y/N by his side, through sickness and health, for better or worse.
