Five Hargreeves and Y/N had been through countless disputes together, but nothing was as bad as the argument that evening. What started as a minor disagreement about Five's relentless work habits spiraled into something much darker.

"You're always so obsessed with saving everyone else!" Y/N exclaimed, her voice shaking with frustration. "When are you going to realize that you can't fix everything, Five?"

Five's eyes flashed with anger. "And what am I supposed to do, Y/N? Just sit back and watch the world fall apart?"

"No, but you can't keep shutting me out!" Y/N shot back, her voice breaking. "I'm your wife, Five. I'm here to help you, but you keep pushing me away!"

Five turned away, his jaw clenched. "Because you're useless," he muttered under his breath.

Y/N froze, her heart pounding. "What did you just say?"

He whipped around, the stress and exhaustion of his endless battles bubbling over. "I said, you're useless! You think you understand what I'm going through, but you don't! You have no idea what it's like to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders!"

The words hung in the air, sharp and cutting. Y/N's face paled as if he had slapped her. She took a step back, her eyes filling with tears.

"Y/N, I didn't—" Five began, but the damage was done.

Y/N held up a hand, stopping him. "No, Five. You said it. Maybe I don't understand everything you've been through, but I've been here, right beside you, through all of it. And for you to say that... it hurts more than you can imagine."

Five felt a pang of regret, but his pride wouldn't let him back down. "I'm just trying to do what's right. I don't have time to explain myself all the time."

Y/N nodded slowly, her expression one of deep hurt. "I get it. You're a hero, always saving the day. But you know what, Five? Sometimes, the people who need saving are right in front of you."

She turned and walked out of the room, leaving Five standing there, the weight of his words sinking in. He wanted to call her back, to apologize, but the words wouldn't come. Instead, he stood there, feeling the cold emptiness where Y/N's warmth had been.

Hours passed, the silence of the house pressing down on him. He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept replaying the argument, the look of pain on Y/N's face haunting him. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he went to find her.

He found Y/N in the living room, curled up on the couch, staring blankly at the TV. She looked up as he approached, her eyes red from crying.

"Y/N," he began, his voice soft. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said. I was angry and tired, and I lashed out. You're right. You've been here through everything, and I shouldn't have said those things."

Y/N looked at him, her expression guarded. "Words hurt, Five. Especially when they come from someone you love."

Five nodded, feeling the weight of his mistake. "I know. And I'm sorry. I'm not used to letting people in, but that's no excuse. I promise I'll do better. I don't want to push you away."

She sighed, the tension easing slightly. "I don't want to fight with you, Five. I just want us to be a team, to face everything together."

He sat down beside her, taking her hand in his. "We are a team. And I'm sorry for making you feel otherwise. I love you, Y/N. More than anything."

Y/N squeezed his hand, a small smile breaking through her sadness. "I love you too, Five. Just... remember that we're in this together, okay?"

He nodded, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "Together," he agreed.

They sat there for a while, holding each other, letting the hurt and anger fade away. They knew there would be more challenges ahead, more arguments and obstacles, but as long as they faced them together, they could get through anything.
