Wuji: A Promise Kept

"Gege," Hua Cheng said and gave him an interesting look. A look that only Xie Lian could understand.

"So he has returned after all," Xie Lian said knowing exactly who Hua Cheng was talking about, "of course it has to be him."

"What's going on?" Wuxian asked.

"We know who has her," Xie Lian said, "follow us."

Wuxian, Wangji, and Wen Ning followed Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. They told the other disciples to keep looking around the city while they looked around the outskirts. They just wanted them more out of the way because apparently Hua Cheng had found Haishi. He looked angry too. Xie Lian didn't look any better. They followed the two to a forest just outside the city and straight to a cave.

"Gu Zi!" Xie Lian yelled.

"Hi Gege," the boy said.

"Where is your father?" He asked.

"Inside, he said he found a new friend for me to play with but she looked scared," Gu Zi said, "I told him to let her go. He kicked me outside."

Xie Lian sighed, "Stay here," he told the boy. They then stormed into the cave. Wuxian and Wangji followed.

After a short while, a man came into view, and Haishi was there. She was in some sort of small cage. The young man who shares a resemblance to, Xie Lian. While not many of their features look alike, their noses, lips and the contours of their jaws are similar in shape. He has high, sharp brows and thin, slanted eyes. It's said that one could tell not to mess with him purely by looking at his face. That didn't bother Wuxian and Wangji one bit. They just wanted their daughter back.

"Haishi," Wuxian said and then looked at the man, "who is he?"

"This is Night-Touring Green Lantern, Qi Rong," Hua Cheng explained.

"So he is a ghost?" Wuxian asked with a grin.

"He is, he isn't a supreme but due to his vulgar language and shameless behavior, many people regard him as one," Hua Cheng said, "to me, he's just useless trash."

"But he isn't a supreme..." Wuxian said.

"No," Hua Cheng replied.

Wuxian's smile grew before he began to whistle. It caused Qi Rong to walk and do things without his consent. Wuxian was manipulating him and had him release Haishi. Haishi came running over to Wangji. He let Wuxian handle Qi Rong.

"You are getting good with control," Hua Cheng said to Wuxian.

"I am still working on it," Wuxian replied.

"Qi Rong, where is your head at? Why steal another child?" Xie Lian asked.

"Well if it isn't my dear cousin the crown prince, you fucker, I took them for the hell of it. I need someone to get my deadbeat son out of here sometime," Qi Rong said.

Hua Cheng looked at the little girl, "don't look, okay," he told her.

Haishi nodded and shoved her little face into Wangji's chest. Before Hua Cheng could make a move, Xie Lian grabbed Qi Rong by the hair and slammed his face into the cave wall.

"You still think I won't hurt you?" Xie Lian asked, "I've beat you so many times now. As the emperor of heaven, you should be grateful I haven't destroyed your ashes yet."

"You fucking dog, you wouldn't dare!" Qi Rong spat.

"Really, don't think I don't know you hid them with my mother's ashes in her tomb," Xie Lian announced. He still had a very strong grip on Qi Rong's head, "You know better than to take something that doesn't belong to you, especially if it is related to me."

"How was I to know that little brat was yours?" Qi Rong howled.

Wei Wuxian's eyes flashed a piercing shade of crimson at the words towards his daughter, "what did you just say?" He asked.

"Who are you?" Qi Rong asked, "some fucker lackey of His?" He pointed to Hua Cheng.

"I am not but I can be just as bad as him," Wuxian said, "say one more bad thing about my daughter and I will let you know why many are afraid of me."

"Wei Wuxian, why don't you take Haishi back to the inn. We will return shortly. We are going to take care of Qi Rong first," Hua Cheng said. He looked amused but he also didn't want Wuxian to deal with Qi Rong. It was something he and Xie Lian could handle.

Wuxian sighed, "can I punch him first for insulting my daughter in front of me?" He asked.

Xie Lian nodded. Wei Wuxian was about to throw a punch but was soon handed a little child. Wuxian blinked and saw he was now holding Haishi, "allow me," Wangji said.

Wuxian smiled, "ah, I almost forgot you are a lot stronger than me," he said. He held Haishi close and made sure she wasn't paying attention to them. Wuxian's smile grew when he saw Lan Wangji throw a punch with little to no effort at all. It even seemed to have knocked out a couple teeth. With a small brush of dust off his shoulder, Wangji was back to his usual composure as if he didn't make a move at all.

"Have I mentioned that he works really well with you?" Hua Cheng asked Wuxian.

"I do not think so," Wuxian said.

"Oh, well he does," Hua Cheng said, "we will see you two again shortly."

"Alright," Wuxian said and left with Wangji who held Haishi in his arms.

When they got back to the inn, they brought Haishi into their room and ordered her not only a bath, but a nice meal. Sizhui was relieved that Haishi was found, but he took a punishment for allowing it to happen. He wrote the rules one hundred times while doing a handstand. Wuxian had said that Sizhui shouldn't be punished to write so much and Wangji even suggested less but Sizhui did one hundred as he said.

"Are you hurt at all?" Wuxian asked Haishi after she was cleaned up and put into some clean robes.

"No," she answered, "he was a bit rude but he didn't hurt me. He seems to be a coward under all that green."

Of course Haishi wasn't bothered. Wuxian smiled at her, "He won't bother you again," Wuxian said, "I promise."

"Who were those two men with you?" Haishi asked.

"They are friends of mine," Wuxian replied, "you can meet them properly soon. Why don't you eat while we wait?"

"But Baba, that man who took me, he has another kid with him," Haishi said.

"He is being handled," Wuxian said, "you do not need to worry about anything."

"Alright," she said.
