The wedding was getting closer by the day. There wasn't all that much time left but most of the preparations were done. As there was only a couple days left before the ceremony, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were now separated from each other. It was a tradition to not to be around your spouse the day before your wedding. There are superstitions that it will cause the couple bad luck otherwise. Wei Wuxian spent his time in his workshop. There was a room on the lower floor that was also a bedroom in case he needed to sleep but was unable to be at the Jingshi for whatever reason.
Wei Wuxian was relaxing on the bed in his workshop and was lost in thought. He was very happy but also anxious about the wedding. He and Lan Wangji would finally become cultivation partners. The thought had Wei Wuxian blushing. He then thought about the what goes on after the ceremony. Lan Wangji and him would go to the bridal chamber and consummate their marriage.
Wei Wuxian was curious about it. He and Lan Wangji have had hot make out sessions and the furthest Wangji would go was Wuxian's abs. Lan Wangji respected Wuxian and didn't push him into having sex. That made Wuxian relax. Now the wedding was coming and he had to think about it. He felt he was ready and he wanted to be Lan Wangji's in every possible way.
As he laid there lost in his thoughts, he heard footsteps coming from the main floor. Wei Wuxian got up and went up to see who it was. When he entered the main floor he saw Lan Xichen. He looked as if he was searching for something, but as he noticed Wei Wuxian, he smiled and made his way over.
"There you are," Lan Xichen said.
"You...were looking for me?" Wuxian questioned, "why?"
"I just thought I'd spend some time with my soon-to-be brother-in-law," he replied, "have you eaten yet?"
"I have not," Wuxian answered, "I have been too anxious to eat."
Lan Xichen smiled, "Wangji wouldn't want to that his fiancé isn't taking care of himself."
Wei Wuxian sighed, "I know, but when I get anxious or nervous I don't do well in terms of my health. Plus, food for me has always been the least important thing on my mind."
Lan Xichen's smile falters, "you still need to take care of yourself. I understand as you grew up this way and habits are hard to break, but you have nothing to worry about anymore. Wangji wouldn't let anyone hurt you and neither with I and Shufu. You can slowly start to heal."
Wuxian nodded, "I understand."
"Good, now come with me to the dining hall and get something to eat," he demanded, "as a sect leader, it is an order. You need to learn."
Wuxian chuckled, "alright, alright."
With that, Lan Xichen was able to get Wei Wuxian to the dining hall. After eating, Lan Xichen went back with Wuxian to his workshop, "I am sure being nervous is all that is going on?" He asked.
"Yeah," Wuxian replied, "I'm sure it is normal."
"It is," Xichen said, "I am not married but I am aware that a wedding can cause you to be anxious."
"Is Jiang Cheng still coming?" Wuxian asked.
"He is, he wrote to me saying he will keep his head disciple back at Lotus Pier," Lan Xichen answered.
Wei Wuxian sighed, "alright."
"You and him are doing okay?" Xichen asked.
"As far as I know," Wuxian said as he sat down at a table in the workshop with Xichen, "he told me that back then just after Lotus Pier was...destroyed, and we went into hiding, as I was out getting some supplies, the reason he got caused by the Wens and brought back to Lotus Pier was he saw them near me. He managed to cause them to chase him to keep me from getting captured."
"So not only did you help him with a golden core, but he lost it as a result of helping you," Xichen said.
"Yes," Wuxian said, "and when you word it like that, it makes me feel guilty."
"He got himself caught. He wanted to protect you. There was no telling what he would end up going through. I feel like putting blame on anyone in that situation is not necessary," Xichen said. Wuxian nodded. He suddenly saw movement in the corner of his eye. He looked and saw a Lan couple standing in front of a section of the library within the workshop. Lan Xichen followed his gaze but saw nothing. He then looked at Wuxian, "You see something?"
"More like two someones," Wuxian replied.
Lan Xichen wanted to try something, "I want to try something," he said.
Wuxian nodded and saw Xichen reach for his hand. Wuxian understood and took it. Doing so allowed Xichen to now see the couple. Wuxian got a better look at the two and then looked back at Xichen, "Your parents," Wuxian whispered in realization.
"It seems they found each other in the afterlife," Xichen said and smiled.
"Did you want to see them?" Wuxian asked.
"This is enough for now," Xichen said and let go of Wuxian's hand, "it seems that holding your hand does allow others to see the spirits you can see."
Wuxian nodded as he continued to stare at the couple, "getting a better look, Lan Zhan looks a lot like your father while you resemble your mother a bit more."
"I guess so," Xichen said.
Wuxian let the couple be and focused back on Xichen, "I was never able to see spirits before moving into Cloud Recesses. Why do you think that is?"
"I'm not sure, maybe cultivating again just enhanced some abilities that you had hidden away," Xichen suggests.
"But I started seeing spirits before I got my new core. I saw Lan An..." Wuxian said.
"Maybe because he allowed you to see him," Xichen said, "you said that he was a master of yin and yang energy. If that's the case, even as a spirit he can still have a bit of power. I'm also sure that Baoshan had helped in some way and you said he was good friends with her."
Wuxian nodded, "that is what he told me," he said.
"I just think that some things happen for a reason, if you have this ability, it is for a good reason and you have a purpose," Lan Xichen explained.
"Alright," Wuxian said.
