Wuji: A Promise Kept

It was nearly noon by the time Wuxian and Wangji met up with the others outside of the inn. They were to head out as they are needed to get to Baoshan's soon. Hua Cheng and Xie Lian will be accompanying them for the rest of the way as well. They were friends of Baoshan's so they were to meet with here anyway. They just felt that they could travel with Wuxian and Wangji, and their disciples. Of course, Iroh was in the lead. He was to escort them to Baoshan's.

"There you two are," Hua Cheng said as Wangji and Wuxian joined them, "we were wondering what was keeping you."

"Oh," Wuxian said with a wink, "got caught up with something. Didn't expect it to take so long."

Hua Cheng immediately began to understand, "Oh, that was actually quite quick. If it were me and my beloved, I'd keep him all day long."

"San Lang!" Xie Lian said.

Wuxian couldn't help but laugh, "oh don't worry, we get our moments like that too," Wuxian said. He wasn't at all ashamed to admit it.

Wangji grabbed Wuxian's hand, "and he will pay the price for his actions. What better way to punish your beloved than in bed."

Hua Cheng smiled, "indeed, but Gege couldn't do anything wrong in my eyes."

"I actually like it," Wuxian said, "but everyone has their own preferences."

"Of course, Wei Ying couldn't do anything wrong in my eyes either, but it's his teasing that gets him into trouble," Wangji explained.

"He gets very worked up if I call him Er-Gege," Wuxian said.

"Why not Gege? Why call him Er-Gege?" Xie Lian asked.

"He has an older brother," Wuxian said, "so Lan Er Gongzi is what most people refer to him as. Er-Gege is just me being more intimate with it."

"Oh," Xie Lian said, "well, I'm sure we will meet the older brother eventually right?"

"Sure," Wuxian said, "anyway, should we get going?"

"Yeah, let's go," Hua Cheng said.

With that, the group carried on their way. Haishi was walking a little bit in front of Wuxian. Wuxian smiled and grabbed her from behind and twirled her around, "Baba!" Haishi giggled.

Haishi had become the most spoiled of the group. Each of the disciples have a soft spot for her, and she always had a smile on her face. Of course, Biyu was the one who loved her most, she spent most of her time with Haishi. Wuxian and Wangji actually became grateful for that as there were just some things that girls can handle better with another girl than with a man, even if it was a parent.

And Biyu, she was starting to become the daughter of Wuxian and Wangji. It was well known that Sizhui has a crush on the girl, and it was only a matter of time before the two begin to court each other. Wangji and Wuxian have already set up everything with Xichen and Lan Qiren. They two think that Biyu is a good fit for Sizhui and would gladly be happy for them to be betrothed.

Haishi was giggling and squealing, and it caused the others in the group to look her way. They saw Wuxian holding her and spinning her around in circles. Wangji stood beside them just watching them with a gentle smile on his face.

The group was cheerful for a good portion of the day. They were actually heading more towards Taicang Mountain. It was not only where Xie Lian used to train but it had a portal to where Baoshan was located. So they were heading just north of New Xianle. The trip was going to take a couple days at least. It could go faster if Xie Lian were to make a teleportation array, but it uses up a lot of spiritual power and there was a lot of people here. Hua Cheng could also lend a hand but this trip was a good chance for everyone to bond and get to know each other.

Soon it was getting dark. Haishi was being carried by Wangji and had fallen asleep in his arms. Wuxian smiled upon noticing, "should we stop for today, or is everyone okay with continuing forward a bit longer?" Wuxian asked.

"This is a good place to set up camp for today," Iroh said, "the little one is already asleep but she should get warm and comfortable. The others are probably hungry as well."

"Very well," Wuxian said and looked at his disciples, " Sizhui and Jingyi, there as you are the oldest of the group, I want one of you to go hunt, and the other to gather wood for a fire. Lan Rong, I want you to patrol the area just to be sure we are safe, and Lan Chuanli, you set up the mats we brought for sleeping."

"Yes Master Wei," the group said.

"And me?" Biyu questioned.

"Can you keep watch over Haishi?" Wuxian asked her, "and as you are the one in charge of medicine, there are a couple wounds on Haishi from when she was taken. I want you to clean her wounds and change her bandages. Can you do that?"

"Of course," Biyu said and gently took Haishi from Wangji.

After the disciples went about their duties, Xie Lian went with Sizhui and Jingyi to help gather food. Hua Cheng followed as he was good with helping get firewood. He had E-Ming of course, so chopping wood was a simple task.

Wangji and Wuxian helped set up camp and start the fire. Once all the tasks were done, and Biyu had Haishi settled, she began to cook. Xie Lian decided to help her. As the group sat around waiting, Wuxian decided to share with Hua Cheng about his visit to the spirit world.

"During my meditation session this morning, I didn't see it but it spoke to me," Wuxian explained.

Iroh moved over to them, "what did it say to you?"

"I just asked why it was causing issues, and it said it was because it was angering us. It thrives on making us angry," Wuxian said, "it didn't really say anything else...it brought me to a place I have long forgotten about. Seeing it again, it made me see all my past mistakes."

Wangji held onto Wuxian's hand, "it may cause you distress but know that you have long moved on. You know that you have done no wrong," Wangji assured him.

Wuxian nodded, "I know."

"I am sorry that my creation has caused such problems," Hua Cheng said.

"We don't blame you," Wuxian said, "you had a reason for making it, and you had no intention for it to get out of control. That isn't on you."

Hua Cheng nodded. This creature was a challenge, but the group was prepared to face anything and fight together.
