Wuji: A Promise Kept

Wangji and Wuxian were away for a few weeks. They spent almost every day having a love session in bed. They realized that they have become addicted to the feeling and now it's an everyday occurrence. Since they were now heading back to Cloud Recesses, they would have to get more creative on their everyday activities. They even made a barrier around the Jingshi which will remain unless removed, and this barrier will keep sound from traveling outside. They even have lock talismans made and they made so many of them. They really didn't want to be disturbed when they were having their private time.

Though the two were still in their honeymoon phase and in a state of bliss, the words that Lan An spoke of still lingered in Wei Wuxian's mind. Wuxian was currently sitting in the backhills with the bunnies. It was odd but the little creatures crowded around him and they haven't done that before. The bunnies are usually minding themselves and one would occasionally go over to Wuxian when he visited. Now they all swarmed him. He wondered if it had something to do with his abilities.

"You bunnies are so needy today," Wuxian teased. It didn't seem to matter what he said because the bunnies continued on with what they were doing. Wuxian sighed, "Don't let your past define your future and don't let your future determine your present."

"It is not easy to forget the pain of the past as it haunts you almost everyday," Wuxian muttered, "I do not think I am ready to face my past again? Seeing spirits that were killed either by my hands or due to my negligence, will be painful."

"You are not alone, Wei Ying," Wangji said as he approached him.

Wuxian looked at him, "I know, it is just hard."

Wangji nodded, "we should talk to Xiongzhang and Shufu about Lan An's warning."

Wuxian nodded and stood up. He managed to climb out of the pile of bunnies he was currently buried in and left with Wangji to speak with Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen.

"Have you seen any spirits since you have been given this new ability now?" Wuxian asked taking his hand as they walked.

Wangji laced his fingers between Wuxian's as he answered, "not yet but I am sure I will...when you said you saw my parents I have been tempted to go to your workshop to find them."

"Why would you think they chose my workshop to linger?" Wuxian asked.

"Maybe they like the place, but also, your workshop is a bit more secluded than most of the other main buildings so maybe they just happened to be there one day," Wangji said.

"If you ever want to face them, I would be happy to be beside you if you need me," Wuxian said.

"I appreciate it," Wangji said. The two walked peacefully to the Hanshi to speak with Lan Xichen, Surprisingly, Lan Qiren was there so they didn't have to go searching for him.

"How are you both doing?" Xichen asked.

Wangji and Wuxian sat with them at the table, "we are doing good," Wuxian said, "we actually came because we have something important to talk about."

"Okay," Xichen said.

"Since Lan Zhan and I are now bonded, he can see spirits too," Wuxian explained, "I guess he shares it with me."

"That's interesting," Xichen said, "did you two see someone on your trip?"

"Lan An stopped by," Wangji said.

"Did he say anything important?" Lan Qiren asked.

"He said that there is a darkness coming our way but he didn't say when. He said it will also test our trust with each other during that time. I am also to seek out Baoshan when the time is right. Apparently I will know when," Wuxian explained.

"I am guessing another war is coming then?" Xichen questioned.

"It's possible, and he said he may not be able to protect us physically but he can by giving us information here and there," Wuxian said, "and I know he wouldn't lie about something like this. We just have to be prepared for whatever is coming."

"We should set up a new training schedule," Xichen suggested, "everyone is still recovering from Jin Guangyao's incident so we need to prepare for the unknown."

"As Chief Cultivator, did you want to talk about any of this at the next conference meeting?" Wangji asked, "or maybe ask if anyone is struggling in some way?"

"It might be a good idea," Xichen said, "but I will ask in a way to be discreet as we don't want people asking questions as to how we know about this darkness."

"Honestly, I wish we had more to go on but it's all we have right now," Wuxian said, "also, I think this could also test Jiang Cheng's words that he means to make amends, I think we could tell him this and see if we can work together."

"It might not be a bad idea," Lan Qiren said, "for now, we focus on our sect. Our disciples are doing well but since you are now back, you will be starting to teach soon. You will have a chance to test the juniors to see which six will be your students."

"If it's alright, because I know they are more than capable, I already want Sizhui and Jingyi and they have good potential," Wuxian said.

"Then you have four left to choose from," Lan Qiren said, "tomorrow at the training grounds we can have the top twelve of our Juniors participate into seeing who has the most potential to be your disciples."

Wuxian nodded, "alright, am I able to have help from Lan Zhan planning on what I should have them do?"

"Of course, we will leave the rest to you two, I think you both should choose and teach together. Wangji has certain skills that you don't have while you have skills he doesn't have. It's a good mix and it will continue to test your trust and communication with each other," Xichen said.

"Alright," Wuxian said and looked at Wangji, "what do you say?"

"I am looking forward to it," Wangji said.
