Cody was always secretly glad that he had no sisters. Not that he had anything against girls but he knew nothing about them. Like, could he even change a baby sisters' diapers or would that be weird? And he supposed that the following potty training would be entirely different than with brothers.

Another thing Cody was spared of was buying pink clothes, paying balet lessons and brushing long hair. He would say he was spared studying holo princesses but Echo liked those and now he wasn't spared dyeing hair either. Still, he supposed that trimming brothers' hair was much easier than cutting long hair.

The thing Cody didn't even dare to think about was what he would do once his sister went to puberty. Just... no.

Only now he would have to figure that all out and fast because not only he had a baby sister but he had a teenage sister as well.

When the social worker led him to this sister of his, Cody would lie if he said he wasn't afraid. He's never heard about Emerie or Omega existing and now that he has, Emerie was thirteen already and she's been abused throughout her entire life. She will without a doubt have a hard time getting used to everything and Cody will have a hard time raising a girl.

Only when he saw her, she didn't look all that different from any other scared child. Maybe it was all going to be okay in the end.

"Hi," Cody smiled at her, aiming at making her feel at ease. "You are Emerie, right?" he asked, even if it was obvious. When the girl nodded, he continued: "Let's take you home."

  "Okay."

"Do you have something here that you want to take with you?" Cody asked. Emerie didn't look like she had any belongings but he wanted to check. From what the social worker told him, the girl grew up isolated and living according to some fucked up rules. He figured he should probably ask her about everything to show her that she had a choice and that disagreeing was okay.

"I have all my uniforms in the Kaminoan medical facility," Emerie answered. It wasn't what Cody asked her but at least she was talking to him.

"You can't get that right now. We will make sure that you get anything you want from there later," Cody promised. He wasn't particularly fond of the idea of Emerie wearing a uniform, children shouldn't have to do that, but if that was what she wanted, he wasn't going to stop her. "We will get you some different clothes for now."

"Do you have different regulation uniforms?"

"No. We don't have any regulation clothing, you can wear whatever you want. If you want, we can stop by at the mall on our way home and you can pick some new clothes. Or we can go home and we can go shopping for clothes later. Both is fine."

"Can we go now?" Emerie asked shyly. It was obvious that she wasn't used to anyone asking her opinion and Cody promised to himself that he will change that. From now on, Emerie will always have a choice.

"If you are sure you feel up to it. You aren't too tired?"

"Kind of but I still want to go. Please."

"Alright but we will be going straight home from the mall and you will catch some sleep once we are there, okay?"

  "Okay," Emerie agreed.

"Let's go then. Do you want me to tell you something about our brothers while we go?" Cody offered. He could imagine Emerie wanted to know who exactly she will be living with. Cody still didn't know where Emerie was going to sleep. He will have to convert the garage into a living space and fast but that wasn't going to happen overnight. He will probably have to move Fox into Wolffe's room for the time being and Emerie could stay in Fox's room before they figured something out. Fox was going to hate it.
