Sorry I wasn't posting for some time, I wanted to participate in the codywan week (you can check out my stories on my profile) and I was also fairly busy so yeah, I couldn't really publish sooner. I hope you enjoy the chapter, even if it's a short one.
When the first letter came, Boost spent exactly five seconds scanning the text before throwing it out. It was all 'dear boys' and 'looking forward to meet you' and blah blah blah. The typical bullshit they got all the time.
When the second letter came, he actually scanned the whole text. A description of rooms. Nothing special, they got a few letters like that before. Boost wasted no time throwing it out.
Him and Sinker had been fostered and kicked out a great many times. One or two letters were the norm. Always lies about how much their "new family" wanted to meet them and how loved they are going to be.
Only this time, the letters kept coming. Boost read the whole thing to the both of them and even hesitated before tearing the paper and throwing it into the trash bin.
They both agreed that the guy sounded pretty boring. But he must've cared to some extent because then came another letter.
Boost read the letter out loud and by the time he was finished, his emotional twin was already sniffling. "Do you- do you think he's talking the truth. That he learned to cook because of us?"
"I don't know," Boost admitted.
"I'm tired of this, Boost. I just want someone to finally keep us. I hope this is the one."
Boost didn't dare to hope, not anymore. He stopped hoping a long time ago, it prevented him from getting his heart shattered when every time the foster family turned out to be the same. Not once in their life had they been with a family that could tell them apart. Efforts to change their names also weren't unusual. And when they argued against it, guess what? The family got rid of them because they 'weren't a fit'. Sinker always hoped the next fosters are gonna be better and Boost hated seeing his brothers heart shattered over and over again. Surprisingly enough, Boost had a good feeling about this one.
The next and last letter came shortly before their supervised meeting. Sinker seemed to genuinely believe that this man was the one, the foster parent that will keep them. Boost warned him not to get his expectations too high. They argued over it but all of that was quickly forgotten when they were finally being led to one of the offices to meet their new foster parent.
"Boost I-"
"It's gonna be fine."
Then the social worker opened the door. Boost wasn't so sure anymore. The Kel Dor sitting on a too small chair sure looked intimidating. Boost subtly positioned himself so he was standing between the Kel Dor and Sinker.
"Hello, my dear boys," the Kel Dor spoke. If he noticed Boost's efforts to make a barrier between him and his twin, he didn't address it. "I believe we have much to discuss."
