Chrissy was outside on her own. She was not on a mission or anything, she could not sleep, and needed some fresh air. The entire city was quiet and silent, just the way Chrissy liked it to be.

Her heart hurt, from hearing the exchange between Alex and Elle.

Those two had lived together with one another since they were three, killing together. Chrissy had seen a sort of affection between the two the moment she had laid her eyes on them.

They were so comfortable around one another, as if they had nothing to hide in the presence of the other. They had one another to lean on, when they felt like giving up. They had experienced what it was like to love.

Chrissy sniffed a little, brushing her purple hair out from her eyes.

She had entered the purge alone. By herself. Her parents went out one day, and never came back after that. Chrissy had killed her first man, by knocking his head on the concrete floor at the age of two.

Chrissy hated the killing machine she was becoming as she grew up. She never trusted anyone, only staying by herself.

When she felt like giving up on the gift of life, nobody was there to motivate her to continue working hard. No one was there to tell her to get it all together.

During that period of her life, when Chrissy had nearly died from the lack of food, no one could help her. Before she got her renowned name Shadow Huntress, no one even knew who she was. No one helped her.

Elle had Alex. She had no one.

Chrissy was not even going to lie. She knew something was going on between Sam and Kurt as well.

Whatever it was, Chrissy never had a best friend. She never had someone to count on in her times of need. She was just... a lone wolf.

" I'm not worth anything to anyone, " she whispered to herself, drawing her knees up to her chest.

Chrissy was just Chrissy. She had nobody. That was just it. She did not like this lifestyle, and if she could get a second chance, she would have gotten herself an ally.

" Why are you out here alone?"

She turned around, and saw Elle walking towards her.

" I could ask you the same thing," Chrissy responded, looking down, playing with a stray blade of grass she had found on the floor.

Elle did not say anything, she just went to sit down beside Chrissy, crossing her legs with a slight sigh. Chrissy looked at her.

Elle's eyes seemed to have lost their usual glow and radiance, with heavy eye bags under them. Her hair was slightly messy, she had gotten it out of her usual ponytail. Her skin looked pale and slightly sickly.

Chrissy placed her hand on Elle's forehead.

" I'm not sick," Elle said, brushing her hand away.

" Well, you sure look like it," Chrissy responded, drawing her hand back.

Elle turned away from Chrissy, just looking down at their city at night in silence. Chrissy knew that Elle had nearly watched Alex die, when she went to save him and get him out of Eric's house. She knew that she was worried for him.

" Alex is made of strong material, " Chrissy said, playing now with the long laces of her black boots.

" That's what's scary. He's normally so strong. This is the first time he got a fever this bad," Elle told her, crossing her legs.

Chrissy let go of her purple hair from her loose side braid, just letting it fall around her shoulders. She was the strongest killer out there, but right now, she felt useless.
