Here are some of the possible bad endings, bad whatevers and possibilities I had thought about but did not add in the book. Just thought that it would be fun to share it. Some of these can be rather cruel.
1. Have someone go up to Elle and tell her that her sister, Blair, was alive but ill in another town and she would have to leave the mission behind to find her.
2. Finn does not die, and Alex uses him to get to the British government.
3. Kirstin kills Avi while being controlled by the rabies.
4. Sam dies in the first five chapters after being shot in the shoulder.
5. Kurt and Sam come out as gay early, not just in the end.
6. Chrissy dies in the final mission in the arms of Daniel. Daniel then proceeds to kill wildly, and end up dying himself.
7. Mitch and Scott die in the headquarters of the British, not the American British headquarters.
8. Odin survives for longer, blowing up more landmines as they run.
9. Hazelnut dies.
10. Alex refuses Elle completely in the epilogue, and Elle finds another guy. This would result in a sequel but nah, I don't do the sequel thing.
11. Elle dies in the final mission.
12. Epilogue would have been changed to having Alex on his deathbed, decades later. Only then, in his dying moments, would Elle arrive, and she would have to watch him die.
13. Pinecone would have been shot in an attempt to protect her owners.
14. Kurt would have died while being held captive.
15. Elle would have returned to Los Angeles to find Alex, and saw him walking across a field in the military. A bomb, a landmine, had been placed there by the British a while ago, and he set it off. Elle would have had to watch him get blown to bits, and Alex would have died without knowing that Elle finally came back for him.
So.... that was it. Fifteen different possible plot twists, which I had played with putting in the story. It might have been quite interesting to see the story if Sam and Kurt were openly gay, but catastrophic if Elle only visited Alex on his deathbed. I toyed with all the ideas in here, but decided on the current flow of story flow. I don't know if the current option is the best, I hope so.
