The entire city was singing their praises the following day, rejoicing in their homes. There was no obvious celebration, otherwise the British would be on to them, but smiles were on people's faces.

Many of the prisoners, although weak and scarred, had managed to cycle home. The adrenaline, and the mere thought of their family must have given them the energy.

Of course, some fainted on their bicycles, never to be found again. But their families were happy that their relative finally could stop going through British torture.

The Assassins were reunited once again. But at a price. Macy and Kevin. Sam was still too weak to do much but open his eyes, and there was a chance that he may leave them anytime, but they had done it.

" Pinecone, come here," Elle said, holding her arms out. After fourteen days in the woods, they were finally coming back home.

The white kitten came over, meowing gently as it did. Kurt reached the kitten first though, hugging the soft fur ball to his face. He was cleaned up by the river earlier, and was happier than he had been in a long time.

Elle glanced at Alex. They were meant to be happy at the overwhelming success of their mission. Sure, they were proud that they had pulled it off, but they were not happy.

Alex knew that they were all slightly depressed at this point. He felt as if he was at blame for the loss of Macy, Kirstin and Kevin. Kirstin was bitten by a dog while looking for bicycles, so she was considered to have died on mission.

He jumped onto the sofa, trying to sleep. Alex was extremely sorry, for causing them to die. Perhaps they had been so driven by their motivation to get Sam and Kurt, that they had failed to protect others. Alex closed his eyes tighter.

The end of the couch sank down, and instantly, he knew that it was Elle. Sam was on the bed and Kurt was too busy figuring out the new apartment. Alex felt a hand on his arm.

" Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Elle whispered.

There was a slight tremble in her voice when she spoke. Alex opened his eyes once more, looking at the bandage around her leg. Elle was not able to work front line for a while because the bullet had dislocated her leg, and she would need time to recover.

" What are you thinking about? " Alex questioned, hugging her close, careful not to cause too much movement to her leg.

Elle coaxed Pinecone to jump up her arms instead of on her leg. The kitten curled up in a content ball of fur in between Alex and Elle.

" The next mission, is the final one. To drive out the British. It is next week. I can't do it with you, because you'll be front line," Elle told him, just staring at the dirty carpet under the sofa.

Alex sat up straighter. He had not realised that. And out of all the missions, this was the most dangerous one. And they were going to be separated. Alex muttered a brief curse under his breath, pulling her even closer to her.

" Then we better appreciate the times we spend together from now on."

" Our final moments."

" Shush, Fowler, don't curse it. "

George was pacing in his office, occasionally glancing in the direction of his British flag attached near the end of his office table. Odin, his army official, and right hand man, was seated on a red plush chair, touching his moustache.
