Chapter 44

Training for the final few weeks before the actual day of attack was the toughest yet. Alex normally did not struggle during physical training, but this time, he was barely even coping well.

Daniel was in charge of the physical training, along with Will. There was a whole ton of people now. Last mission, for prison break, only three forces had taken part. Now there were nearly ten, and more were still coming in. It was crazy.

" Last push up! " Daniel shouted at the mass of people. Alex bent his arms, at the same time as everyone else, forcing himself to push through with the last push up of the day.

Everyone had woken up at six that morning, beginning the day with a long run. Chrissy never had them run before, and it was new to Alex. Of course, it helped that Sam and Elle were waiting for him at the finishing point, encouraging him.

Now, they had just completed their physical. As per schedule, they were supposed to run through the plan again for the attack and then go through with mental, and emotional training. Alex had no idea what emotional training meant.

All of them slowly trudged through the forest, stretching their tired arms and backs. Elle was by Alex's side in seconds, gold hair flying in the slight breeze.

" Who's going through the plann?" Alex asked her, while casually putting his arm around her shoulders.

" Apparently Chrissy is in charge of that and the mental training," Elle responded, leaning in close to him.

" Elle, I'm sweaty," Alex stated.

She instantly walked away from him.

Alex was breezing through the mental practices. Somehow, codes just did not bother him. It was easy to him.

He put his pencil down, sitting back in his seat. Alex picked up his paper and begun to check it through. This must have been what going to an examination in the past must have felt like. Quite stressful. But Alex was prepared for it.

This was odd. In this entire room full of smart people, he seemed like the only one relaxed. Chrissy walked up to his table, taking his paper in her hands. Will and Dan were right behind her, looking over her shoulder.

" Alex, come with us," Dan finally said.

Alex looked up, and realised that all the force members taking the quiz were all looking at him. He gulped a little, and stood up. Chrissy was still analysing the piece of paper, while Will and Dan led him over to the door, opening it for him.

" Front line commander!" Will announced to the people inside the room.

There was a collective cheer from the room. Alex was shoved in by Dan, before the door closed again. Inside, the first person he saw were Elle and Sam. Then he noticed some other force members.

And some older people.

Alex instantly knew who they were. The team of adults who had spent so many years building the planes and other electronic devices for America. Finally they had gotten to talk to them, and had gotten them into their headquarters.

" Alex Goot. Take a seat beside your girlfriend, be quick, be have a briefing to do," a man said.

He was not used to taking commands from anyone other than the Assassins, but Elle pulled him down into the seat beside her. Alex sat down clumsily, with still no idea as to what is going on.
