Later that evening, after successfully murdering another troop, Alex and Elle were the last to get back into the hideout. Alex looked at the bouquet of flowers by her bed side.

Elle watched as something flickered behind Alex's brown eyes, before he turned his head away from her. They had been walking with their hands literally brushing each other's hands, but now, Alex increased the distance.

" Finn gave that to you? " he said, pointing a hand at the bouquet resting on its side. A few of the red petals had fallen off while the five were on a mission, now resting on the dusty ground.

Chrissy glanced up at the two of them briefly, before going back to playing tick tac toe with Kurt in the dusty ground. Kurt totally acted like he was ignoring whatever that was happening, but Elle and Alex knew better.

" Yeah, but I told him to end it today," Elle told him, untying her hair from her ponytail.

Surprise crept onto Alex's features, before he masked it all up. His reaction was real quick, but Elle still managed to catch it. After all, they had lived with one another for so long now, she knew him better than she knew himself.

" What happened in the relationship? You guys just met not longer than one week ago," Alex said, walking to his sleeping bag, unloading all of his equipment on it.

He pulled his black tank top over his head. Elle sucked in a quick breath.

" That's the thing, I think it was going too fast. And I'm not sure if I feel anything for him," Elle admitted.

" Are you gay or something? " Sam asked, from across the other side of the tunnel. Once again, the rich young Assassin was preparing to go to his gambling den again.

Elle was surprised at the mere thought.

" Definitely not," she responded quickly, with a shaky laugh.

Elle glanced at Alex's bare chest, before darting her eyes towards the floor, looking at the amount of mud on her shoes. Her heart raced in her chest, oh god, Alex was hot. She wondered how come she did not know how fit he was.

Well, technically, Elle knew. And she knew about the way she felt towards him too. But Finn was too nice to let down, at their first meeting. But he was out of the way already, wasn't he?

" But those flowers in the bouquet looks expensive. Are you sure?" Chrissy asked, pointing at the lone bouquet laying on its side.

A leaf fell out from it, drifting slightly before landing calmly on the floor.

" Very," Elle insisted, looking straight at Alex as she spoke. She watched as he gulped, eyes trying to avoid hers.

Alex glanced at his bare arm, looking at the old bullet wound. A nasty scar remained on his skin, as it would be for the rest of his life. But it did not look infected. Good.

" Ella," he suddenly said, breaking the sudden, uncalled for silence in the tunnel.

" Lex, what is it."

" Do you remember what happened at age four?"

Alex had left a long time ago, leaving Elle alone with her own thoughts. So many things happened when they were four years old, so many memories.

Elle could recall when that was the first time they actually met Chrissy, who was a year younger. They had worked together once or twice at four years old, before Chrissy heard some rumour of her dad being still alive so she disappeared. They met up again at thirteen.
