Chapter 29

Elle sneaked a glance at Alex. He was sleeping already, his soft snores mixing amongst the ones of the Ferraris. They had a bed to themselves, by which Alex G had willingly moved to go to sleep with Kirstin.

She heard Avi say that all the other murders were coming into Los Angeles as quickly as they possibly can. All of them were there to chase the British out, and now the British powers were stopped here. So of course they all wanted to come.

Kevin had said that Hunters was coming into Los Angeles right now, and gone out to pick them up, before sending them to the opposite block's apartment for them to stay in temporarily.

Elle lay awake, on Alex's body, trying desperately not to give in to the temptation of scratching at the scar on her thigh. Will had said that something sharp, most likely a knife, had sliced her skin open. She had not remembered the wound being there, but then again, everything had happened so quickly that Elle could barely even recall anything.

All of the sudden, loud knocks could be heard, as someone pounded a fist against the wooden surface. Elle jerked upright instantly, and Scott, the tall blond guy from Ferraris who was on watch, already had his knife out.

Alex's eyes fluttered open. The moment he realised that someone was at the door, he started to get up. Elle slid off him, drawing her machette from the holder. The weapon glinted in the faint moonlight.

" Who's there?" Scott shouted.

" It's me! Kevin! Open up!"

Mitch sighed, rubbing his eyes as he wandered out of his bedroom. On his fingers were the keys to the door. Silly Kevin had left without them. Scott exhaled loudly upon seeing the keys and went forward to open the door for Kevin.

The man entered instantly, chest rising and falling quickly, as if he had ran over here. He stumbled inside, looking straight at Alex and Elle.

" First of all, the British are putting out a big sum of reward money, for every murderer caught. Second, Chrissy has been found, " Kevin said, a bright smile lighting up his facial features.

Elle immediately put her machette aside, looking at Alex in shock. Chrissy had made it out, that truly was unbelievable. It had two nights since the capture, and their last flicker of hope was just beginning to die out then this new news comes.

" We have to see her," Elle told him, beginning to walk towards the door. Alex was right at her heels.

Kevin didn't even say anything, just going back outside, leading the way there. Alex felt his heart clench, was she badly bruised? Why was it that she could not personally come here and see them?

" Hold up!" Elle said, running back into the apartment again.

" Careful, don't tear the scar wound," Kirstin shouted after Elle.

She came back out of the house, with a box in her hands. Alex could not believe that Elle ran all the way back in the house just for this. Elle had taken Chrissy's purple hair dye with her. Pinecone meowed at them. Alex bent down and gathered the kitten up.

" C'mon let mommy and daddy bring you to see Chrissy, " Elle whispered, kissing Pinecone lightly.

Instantly, the three of them made for the stairs, jogging down as fast as they could without making too much noise. They had to cross the road to reach the other block, where Chrissy was supposed to be.

Kevin did a quick check of their surroundings, before running out across the road. Alex, holding on tightly to Pinecone, ran too. Elle was a little slower, for the scar on her thigh still hurt.
