Chapter 25

Egon Spengler III and team Ecto-prise encounter three ghost children causing mischief from the nearly abandoned interior. Jim lowers his ecto-goggles to fix a scan of the three ghost children, identifying them as class 3 ethereal poltergeists. They skipped to the top of the lighthouse, and the four heroes stood frozen for a moment.

"I think they are giving us a headstart on finding the artifact." Jim stated.

"Follow those children." Egon ordered the others.

The foursome ascends the staircase despite the number of steps that left them exhausted.

"There are so many steps!" Jim panted, nearly collapsing to the fifth flight of stairs.

"We can't give up, now!" Egon exclaimed in resent.

"We're going to need another way to the top." Beads groaned, panning her head towards Egon.

"Mr. Spunk, I'm going to need you to carry me to the top so I can claim the artifact." Egon requested.

"Very well, though I recommend you to take precautions." Spunk nodded, and he soars and carries Egon to the top.

Egon lands his feet and catches sight of the artifact until he is confronted by the three cultists guarding it. Spunk glides into the air, narrowing his demon eyes toward the elaborate stone depicting the origins of the Devourer. He and Mr. Spunk enact on their encounter. One of the cult members emits dark energy from its left hand and lashes its lightning current on Egon, but he counters it with his proton fist. Mr. Spunk swirls his arms and summons a dark beam at the three cult members. The second cult member lashes a dark soundwave at the four, nearly causing Beads to fall. Fortunately, Jim grabs McRay's hand to prevent her from plunging to the ground. He lifts her back to the staircase. The third cult member phases to the ground and summons scythe-shaped beams everywhere. Jim guards himself and his teammates with his proton shield and fires proton beams from his proton pistol, hitting the first cult member as it dissipates from existence. Spunk swoops to tackle the second cult member, plunging it to its defeat, and takes the artifact. The third cult member casts a blood magic spell on Jim. Dr. McRay casts a psychic ball straight at the third cult member, causing it to dissipate from his sight.

"I have the artifact." Spunk informed his fellow team members.

"Excellent, Spunk!" Jim chimed.

"Well done! Now, we need to find the others and warn the others before Luther plots his next move." Egon advised Team Ecto-prise on the possible dangers lurking ahead.

Roar! They hear a bellowing sound from outside of the pier. The others and Egon glance to find the activity becoming stronger.

The team hustled out of the lighthouse to confront the source of the eldritch entity lurking from the lake. The young ghostbusters crew regroup after completing their objectives and devise on a strategy to defeat the adversary without causing collateral damage to the structural integrity of the renowned Navy Pier. In fact, the aboriginal occurrence evokes questions about the creature's abhorrent demeanor.

"I have the artifact from the lighthouse and fought the cultists behind the threat." Egon announced.

"Superb! Now, we can determine where our surreptitious enemy might be lingering from the center of the lake." Ray responded.

"Its seismic activity almost destroyed the souvenirs." Peter complained.

"You're supposed to find clues connecting to this mission, not buy souvenirs!" Egon contended.

The team fanned out, their proton packs glowing as they scanned the area. Parker and Ray moved to the left, their eyes fixed on the nearby Ferris wheel. Deborah and Winston headed right, their gaze sweeping across the pier's shops and restaurants. Egon and Peter moved forward, their eyes fixed on the portal, which was still swirling with energy. A crowd of civilians realized the blue skies altering to a red color as jet black clouds begin to commingle. The citizens in Chicago notice an eerie feeling constantly heading in their direction. They evacuate the pier due to the horrific activity transpiring.
