Deborah, Winston, and Slimer arrived at the university to chat with the students and faculty who knew Macey before her disappearance, ready to start their investigation. Deborah began to question Macey's classmates and professors, gathering information about her research and any potential connections to the Inner Circle cult.
Winston and Slimer searched the library and research rooms, looking aptly for any clues that might have been missed. Slimer, with his keen sense of smell, sniffed out a hidden journal belonging to Macey.
"What did you find here, Slimer?" Winston asked the green buddy.
"Plenty to count there, Winston." Slimer spoke to him.
"Plenty? Continue researching if you can. We need all the relevant evidence we can find to solve the case." Winston assumed.
Deborah approaches Alice, the head librarian of the New York Public Library, to discuss the case of the missing girl in detail. In fact, Alice was the only witness who witnessed the disappearance of Macey Summers and her personal connection with her.
"Thank you for helping me with this case, Alice." Deborah spoke.
"My pleasure, Deborah." Alice responded.
"What is Macey's favorite place in the library?" Deborah queried.
"She enjoys the computer room for the most of her time, studying for given exams instructed by her teachers." Alice answered.
"What kind of exams?" Deborah queried.
"Mid-term exams and final exams for each semester. She has grown accustomed to her collegiate studies during the start of the semester." she answered.
"How long has she been in Columbia University?" Deborah inquired.
"For three semesters." she continued.
"Can you describe to me the kidnappers?" Deborah asked.
"They wear sturdy red cloaks, and their eyes appear to emanate a strange red color. It frightens me to catch a view of these menacing beings in the dead of night." Alice cried, covering her teary eyes.
"We will get to the bottom of this, Alice." Deborah consoled, handing her a box of tissues.
"Macey was a bright young student for the second she was enrolled to the university until something terrible happened to her." Alice grieved.
Winston and Slimer skim through a multitude of articles connecting to the case until they uncover an article that decodes a clandestine message.
"Winston, I think I found something." Slimer pointed out.
"Let me see." Winston responded, and Slimer hands him the article, "Looks like a message inscribed in red ink. We better find Deborah and figure out what has led up."
The two exit the research room and find Deborah finishing her conversation with a despondent Alice.
"Deborah, it appears we have found something from the research room that captivated Slimer's attention." Winston informed.
"Yeah, Debby! It rouse me!" Slimer added, shaking his head up and down.
"What is it?" Deborah queried.
"I'll explain during our return to the firehouse to decipher it in detail." Winston stated.
"Good idea. Perhaps we can disclose some of the evidence we marshaled from this library despite a dearth of evidence we had from a few people who knew her." Deborah agreed.
As they scurried back to base, they bump into one of the X-Men's original members, Bobby Drake, better known as Iceman.
"Hey, what's the rush?" Bobby chuckled.
