Amara's POV
After a while, Morgan suggested, "How about we take these kids to get some ice cream? They've been so good today."
Namiko and Leo's faces lit up at the mention of ice cream. "Yes, please!" they chorused, jumping up and down with excitement.
Amara laughed, standing up and brushing grass off her jeans. "Alright, let's go get some ice cream."
They packed up their picnic things and headed to a nearby ice cream shop. The shop was a charming little place with colorful decor and a mouth-watering display of flavors. Namiko and Leo pressed their faces against the glass, eyes wide with wonder.
"Can I have chocolate with sprinkles?" Namiko asked, her voice full of excitement.
"Of course, mama's ," Amara said, smiling at her daughter.
Leo pointed at a bright blue flavor. "I want the blue one with gummy bears!"
Morgan chuckled. "One blue ice cream with gummy bears coming right up."
Jhene ordered a scoop of mint chocolate chip, and Amara opted for strawberry. The group sat at a picnic table outside the shop, enjoying the warm sun and the sweet treats.
"This was such a good idea," Amara said, taking a bite of her ice cream. "Thank you, Morgan."
Morgan smiled. "Anything to see these smiles. Look at them; they're having the time of their lives."
Namiko and Leo were giggling and comparing their ice creams, their faces already smeared with chocolate and blue streaks.
Jhene leaned back in her chair, savoring her treat. "We should make this a regular thing. Just a day to relax and have fun."
Amara nodded, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for these moments. "I'd like that. It's nice to have something to look forward to."
As they finished their ice cream, the kids played a game of tag around the picnic tables, their laughter filling the air. Amara watched them, feeling a rare moment of peace. With her friends by her side and Namiko's happiness shining brightly, she knew they would get through anything together.
