As the morning progressed, Hakeem prepared to leave Amara's house. They shared a tender kiss at the door, reassured by their earlier conversation.
"I'll call you later," Hakeem said, giving her one last hug.
"Yeah, for sure," Amara replied with a smile. "Take care, 'Keem."
Hakeem waved goodbye to Namiko, who was playing with her toys in the living room. "Bye, princess! Be good for Mommy."
Namiko waved back, giggling. "Bye-bye, 'Keem!"
After Hakeem left, Amara returned to the kitchen to clean up. Namiko toddled over, tugging at her mom's leg with a curious expression.
"Mama, why you and 'Keem yellin'?" Namiko asked in her baby talk, looking up at Amara with wide eyes.
Amara sighed, crouching down to Namiko's level. "Sweetie, sometimes grown-ups have disagreements, and we were just talking about some things that were bothering us. But everything's okay now, alright?"
Namiko nodded slowly, still looking a bit confused. "Okay, Mama. 'Keem mad?"
Amara shook her head, smiling reassuringly. "No, baby. 'Keem wasn't mad at you or me. We were just working things out. We love each other, and we love you."
Namiko's face brightened, her little arms reaching out for a hug. "Love you, Mama!"
Amara scooped her up, hugging her tightly. "Love you too, baby girl. Now, how about we go play with your toys?"
Namiko giggled and nodded, the earlier concern forgotten. Amara carried her back to the living room, grateful for the innocent resilience of her daughter. As they played together, she made a mental note to keep communication open and honest, not just with Hakeem but with Namiko as well.
