Hakeem met their gazes evenly, his sincerity clear. "I care about Amara a lot, guys. I would never do anything to hurt her."
Caleb nodded, his expression thoughtful. "She's been through some tough times. We just want to make sure you're serious about this."
Hakeem took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "I am serious. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't."
Will spoke up, his voice firm but not unkind. "Good. Because family is everything to us, and Amara and Namiko are a big part of that."
Hakeem felt a surge of gratitude for their honesty and concern. "I understand. I want to be there for them, whatever they need."
