Amara's POV
After a wonderful afternoon at the park, Amara took Namiko home, carrying her inside as the little girl started to get sleepy. She set Namiko down in her high chair and prepared a light meal.
"Alright, baby girl, let's get you some food before your nap," Amara said, setting down a plate of cut-up fruit, some cheese, and a few crackers.
Namiko rubbed her eyes sleepily but started eating, her little hands moving slowly as she picked up the pieces. "Yummy, Mama," she said between bites.
Amara smiled, brushing a stray curl from Namiko's forehead. "Glad you like it, sweetie. Eat up so you can have a nice nap."
Once Namiko finished her meal, Amara scooped her up and carried her to her bedroom. She tucked her daughter into bed, placing her favorite stuffed animal beside her. "Sweet dreams, Namiko," she whispered, kissing her forehead.
"Night-night, Mama," Namiko mumbled, already drifting off to sleep.
Amara quietly closed the door behind her and went about cleaning the house. She put on some Jhene Aiko, letting the soothing melodies fill the space as she tidied up. The music helped her relax, making the chores feel less like work and more like a therapeutic escape.
She was halfway through vacuuming the living room when she heard a knock on the door. Amara turned off the vacuum and went to answer it, surprised to see her younger sister, Jhene, standing there.
"Hey, sis! What's up?" Amara greeted, stepping aside to let Jhene in.
Jhene walked in, looking a bit hesitant. "Hey, Amara. I know you've been super busy, but I really needed to talk to you about something."
Amara nodded, leading her sister to the kitchen where they could sit and chat. "Yeah, I know I've been all over the place lately. What's on your mind?"
Jhene took a deep breath, her expression serious. "It's about me and Elijah. We've been seeing each other for a while now, and things are getting... complicated."
Amara raised an eyebrow, leaning against the counter. "Complicated how?"
"Well," Jhene began, fidgeting with her hands, "we've been having some issues. He's been super supportive of my studies and everything, but I feel like we're hitting a rough patch. We're arguing more, and I don't know if it's just the stress or if there's something deeper going on."
Amara sighed, reaching out to place a comforting hand on Jhene's shoulder. "Relationships can be tough, especially with everything else you've got going on. Have you guys tried talking about it?"
Jhene nodded. "Yeah, we have, but it feels like we're going in circles. I'm just not sure what to do next."
"Sometimes, you just need a break from all the stress to really see things clearly," Amara suggested. "Maybe plan a day where it's just the two of you, no distractions. Just talk and really listen to each other."
Jhene looked thoughtful, nodding slowly. "That sounds like a good idea. I think we need that."
Amara smiled, giving her sister a reassuring hug. "You guys will figure it out. Just remember, every relationship has its ups and downs. It's all about how you handle them."
"Thanks, Amara. I really needed to hear that," Jhene said, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Anytime, sis. You know I'm here for you, no matter how busy I get," Amara replied warmly.
As they continued to chat, the weight of Jhene's worries seemed to lift a bit. Amara was glad she could be there for her sister, offering the same support that she often relied on from her family and friends. Despite the hectic nature of her life, moments like these reminded her of the importance of staying connected and being there for the ones she loved
