Amara knew she had to share the conversation she had with Hakeem with her sister Jhene and her friend Morgan. She decided to invite them over for some snacks and drinks.
That evening, as they settled in the living room, Amara passed around a tray of chips and dip, trying to hide her nervousness.
"Alright, sis, what's the tea?" Jhene asked, munching on a chip. "You been looking all dreamy-eyed lately."
Morgan laughed, taking a sip of her drink. "Yeah, girl, spill it. We wanna know what's got you smiling so much."
Amara took a deep breath and grinned. "Okay, so I had a conversation with Hakeem last night."
Jhene's eyes widened. "Oh snap, is it serious?"
Amara nodded, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Yeah, it is. He told me he's serious about us. Like, really serious."
Morgan raised an eyebrow. "Hold up, you mean like he's ready to step up for you and Namiko?"
"Exactly," Amara said, her smile widening. "He said he cares about us a lot and wants to be there for us."
Jhene squealed, throwing a pillow at her sister playfully. "Girl, that's amazing! Hakeem's a good dude."
Morgan nodded in agreement. "For real, he's solid. You deserve this, Amara. After everything with Jabari, it's good to see you happy."
Amara felt tears prick at her eyes but blinked them away. "I know, right? I was so nervous about telling y'all, but Hakeem's been nothing but supportive. Even my brothers talked to him, and he handled it like a champ."
Jhene laughed. "They better have. You know they don't play when it comes to you and Namiko."
Morgan leaned in, her expression serious. "So, what's next? Y'all making it official or what?"
Amara shrugged, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "I think we're getting there. We still need to take things slow, but I can see a future with him."
Jhene gave her a big hug. "I'm so happy for you, sis. You deserve all the love and happiness."
Morgan joined the hug, adding, "And you know we got your back, no matter what."
