Chapter 36

After the opening, the scene shifts to show Lara sleeping on her bed in her prison cell late at night while Yelena and two of her volunteer members quietly enter Lara's cell. It was then that Yelena's volunteers pinned Lara down, causing her to wake up. However, before she could do anything, one of the volunteers covered her mouth with a cloth coated in chloroform, which knocked her out. At this point, Yelena took out a syringe from her pocket and began extracting the Titan fluid from the back of Lara's neck.

Yelena: (Removes the syringe from Lara's neck as she stares at the fluid inside with a smile on her face) Perfect.

Volunteer 1: Yelena, are you sure that this plan is going to work? I mean, should we really put our trust in a guy who has a couple of screws loose?

Volunteer 2: Yeah, I have to agree; there's something wrong with Eren.

Yelena: (puts the syringe into her pocket) Eren is the key to saving us all from Marley, as he is the true Eldian King. With his help over these past two weeks, Eren will be able to save us all from Marley's tyranny. Have faith in our king.

Yelena then leaves Lara's cell while the two volunteers follow behind her with concerned expressions on their faces. Meanwhile, the scene changes to show another part of the prison as it depicts both Ymir and Reiner walking up to one of the cells that contains Pieck, Gabi, and Falco inside, where they then notice the two former soldiers.

Falco: Mr. Reiner! Are you alright?! What's going to happen to us?!

Ymir: Well, that depends on your cooperation.

Reiner: (sighs) What Ymir is trying to say is that you guys can leave, but only if you all join the Scouts and help us stop Marley. (Notices both Falco and Pieck's shocked expressions on their faces while Gabi doesn't show any emotion)

Gabi: What the hell happened to you, Reiner? You used to be the most loyal soldier who was willing to follow Marley's orders, but now you have betrayed us to join these island devils!

Falco: Gabi!

Reiner: (sighs as he kneels to get on her level) Gabi, I've spent many years on Paradis Island, and at first, I was like you; I couldn't wait to get rid of all of these island devils. But do you want to know what I learned during my time here? I learned that these Eldians are not so different from you, me, and the Eldians back in Marley, as their lives are quite similar to ours, except for the fact that they have free will to make their own decisions instead of being treated like slaves by the Marleyans. The Eldians on Paradis Island had no idea that there are other countries in the world, as they have spent their lives behind a wall with no knowledge of the outside world.

Gabi: (leans back in shock as she gains a confused expression on her face) But what about their ancestors? They are the reason why our lives in Marley are a living hell, and we have to make them pay for what they did to us!

Reiner: You want to blame innocent people who had no knowledge of what their ancestors had done to the Marleyans, which happened before we were even born? Gabi, nobody on that island knows about what their ancestors did thousands of years ago, as they are more focused on trying to survive Marley's constant bombardment of Mindless Titans at their front doorsteps. Marley is the real enemy, as they have been sending Titans to attack Paradis Island all because they couldn't let go of the petty grudge that their ancestors held. Hell, they would rather send a couple of kids to attack an island instead of doing it themselves.

Ymir: Take it from me, kid; I know what it's like being in the center of Marley's pettiness. I was born over sixty years ago in some random dump of a village in Marley. The Eldians there thought that I was their reincarnated goddess, Ymir Fritz, and thus named me after her. However, my cult was discovered by Marleyan soldiers, and then my followers sold me out. But it didn't matter, as we were all turned into mindless Titans and labeled as traitors to their country.
