Crossing the Threshold
"You sure you have to go?" Gohan looks pleadingly at Cross as the gang gathers at the station outside Capsule Corp.
Cross nods. "Unlike most worlds I visit, it seems like your world is not in the center of a major crisis needing regular aid. I can't just sit back and train for another three years, only to then spend more time in the Time Chamber when the crunch is here. There are infinite worlds in need of help, and I can't just ignore them to stand watch here."
She kneels, handing Gohan a small device. "You have the spirit of a ranger. Use this to transform and defend your world. But if you really need help, you can call me, and I'll cross the expanse of space and time to come to your aid."
Gohan nods, holding back tears.
Raditz pauses. "You know, maybe you can stay here a bit longer. Head to Yardrat. Their Instant Transmission technique would be an excellent tool for you to arrive at a moment's notice. And you had a relationship with that dragon, right? You should give him enough time to return and say goodbye."
"That's right!" Chi-Chi exclaims. "And we still need to see your sister so we can use the dragon to cure her degeneration! We want to meet your entire family!"
Cross laughs. "Deal then! I'll make some calls, and you can meet the Cross clan before we head off to protect the multiverse!" She then looks to the others as she gets ready to board her train. "What are you all going to do?"
"I've been thinking about what 17 and 18 said," Yamcha begins. "Goku was lucky, and it's clear if something new shows up, Puar and I won't be the best choice for the front line, though we will always be willing to lend a hand."
"Yamcha always wanted to be a baseball star," Puar adds. "He's gonna try for that and use the money to prevent more orphans from slipping through the cracks like 17 and 18."
The twins say nothing, trying to play it cool, but it's clear they are touched by the sentiment.
"I'm going to keep training for a year or so, but if nothing happens, I'm going into law enforcement. See if we can't get Earth a bit better prepared for any future threats from space. Even if it's not another Cell, should even just original Raditz show up, most of humanity is not ready to defend against that kind of power."
Nappa huffs, puffing out his chest. "I'd train these weaklings to be real soldiers, but I don't think a space conqueror like me has the best pull."
Bulma laughs. "You know me, let me make some calls. I can get you in a board room with the military leaders."
Vegeta huffs.
Cross laughs. "Of course, Vegeta and Goku are just going to train, but you know, with the universal scaler, I could set you guys up with paying gigs as trainers on some of the other worlds in my network. It would be a paying gig for Goku, which I know, Chi-Chi, you'd love him to do, right? You could bring Gohan and yourself along. Get a multiversal education."
Gohan lights up, but Chi-Chi shakes her head. "After everything that has happened, I want Gohan to have some time as a normal kid. He's going to a regular school, not on a multiversal grand tour."
"But Mom, come on! Think of all the stuff I could learn on other Earths!"
"In a few years, Gohan! Right now, I want to have some kind of normal life."
Cross laughs. "Mom has spoken. We'll have to save your grand tour for later."
With hugs and waves, Cross loads up and takes flight. A new era for Earth is beginning.

~Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The Galaxy Line is coming into the station! Repeat! Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The Galaxy Line is coming into the station!
Gohan grinned with delight as the gang peered over the side. It had been over a month since Cross left when they got a message that not only was she coming back from Yardrat, but her clone sisters were coming since Namek's Dragon Balls were ready to use again.
The excitement was paused for a moment as another announcement started up, catching everyone off guard.
~Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The X Line is coming into the station on track 2! Repeat! Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The X Line is coming into the station on track 2!
"Track two?" Tien looked confused, only used to the single arriving track and one departing track. They watched as another track started to appear. The fighter gave a small laugh as he remembered how the train could lay its own track and fly, so of course, if multiple were coming, they would lay a second track.
~Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The Unicorn Line is coming into the station on track 3! Repeat! Attention Everyone! Attention Everyone! The Unicorn Line is coming into the station on track 3!
Again, the group cheered as a third arrival track laid itself out. They looked to the sky as a trio of trains popped through a glowing portal in the air. There was, of course, the five animals of the Galaxy Line that they were well aware of. Next was a line of silver and gold trains, and finally, a pink train emerged with its own portal. Its name was pretty obvious from its distinctive horn and the shape of a horse—clearly, that was the Unicorn Line, which meant the silver train had to be the X Line.
The trio of trains flowed into the station, their doors opening as ramps extended on either side of the station, allowing disembarkation to the central station. The figures that emerged were at first quite recognizable.
"Cross!" Goku laughed. "Good to see you."
She didn't have time to respond as the train opened, and what emerged was not a version of Cross, but a tiger with white fur and pink stripes, being led by a silver-haired tiger girl maid with matching tail and ears. The group paused as the tiger paced about, then sniffed and growled, mewing as she looked back to the girl holding her lead.
"C-Cross?" Tien said uneasily as she sniffed him. "When they said degen—"
The tiger tilted her head, growled, and looked back to her handler, who responded with a series of mewls before bowing to the others. "Sorry, Cross doesn't understand human speech anymore."
Another Cross, with a young man in a white medical coat on her arm, approached the tiger, kneeling by her. "It's just getting worse by the day, isn't it, sister?"
Tiger Cross looked back with confused mewls to her handler.
In a sudden burst, the dragon team transformed to their maid forms. Goku knelt as she held out a hand and spoke in feline, "Don't worry, we'll get you fixed up. For now, we can talk like this."
"So, these are your sisters, Cross?" Tien looked to the first Cross, the one he presumed was his friend.
Cross nodded, motioning to the tiger. "She is a clone like me. I hope she's not too far gone to help."
The tiger growled. "Unless one of these half-breeds knows how to take a pure form, they can't help me."
"Pure form?"
Her handler spoke up. "You'll have to excuse Cross. She's lost contact with her humanity. She now only concerns herself with finding a fellow tiger as a mate. Even my own form isn't good enough to bear or give her a litter."
Tiger Cross huffed. "That's not it at all. Why would I want a primitive, feral beast as a mate? It would only make our litter stupid. I'm not going to have special needs kittens!"
Several characters sighed. Dragon Cross held out her hand. "Goku, do you mind doing the honors?"
She nodded, laying a hand across the three Crosses and their companions. Then, with fingers to her temples, they vanished.
