Chapter 57: Emergency Rescue Mission

"It's over... we're all dead now." Kubo Priest said.

On Earth:

"That's what you get you dumbass!!!" Lars laughed. "I won!! You're a part of me now!!!"

Lars began running across the lake below and flying across the earth in celebration.

On the World of the Priests:

"I'm a Supreme Priest and I've failed the living world." Kubo Priest said.

"Hold on a second." Elder Priest said. "Look, he hasn't changed. Usually when Lars absorbs someone, he got a boost of power, and his appearance changed."

"You're right. He hasn't changed at all." Kubo Priest said. "What do you think it means?"

"I don't know but we'll take a closer look." Elder Priest said. "But if I'm right, those assassins truly are something special."

On Earth:

"Something's off." Lars said. "I absorbed the merged warrior, but I don't feel the power up at all. Not that it really matters, the important fact is, they are gone. Now, it's undisputed that I'm the strongest being in the entire universe."

Lars then ripped off the jacket and sweater from absorbing TJ.

"There's no one in the entire universe that can stop me." Lars said. "I'll destroy until my heart's content until there's nothing but the blackness of space."

Inside of Lars:

"Slipping past his defenses were easier than I thought." Taka said. "I'd wish he shut the fuck up already and stop laughing. The good news is that this barrier was perfect, and Lars couldn't absorb me. Alright, hopefully it's safe now, I need to drop it to find TJ, Mya and Najenda. I don't know how Lars' insides work but I got to find everyone and hope that they're still alive."

On the World of the Priests:

"Ah ha! I was right." Elder Priest said. "They went inside on purpose so he could rescue the others."

"That's why they kept taunting Lars to absorb him." Kubo Priest said. "They didn't want to get their friends killed by killing Lars. They're amazing. Those assassins are the perfect warriors."

On Earth- Inside of Lars:

Taka dropped the barrier but immediately after Taka separated back to Tatsumi and Akame.

"Holy shit!" Tatsumi said.

"What the hell happened?" Akame asked.

"We spilt as soon as the barrier dropped." Tatsumi said. "But why? The Elder Priest said that we would be stuck like that forever."

"It seems not even the Priests know everything, Tatsumi." Akame said as she took off her ring and crushed it.

"Hey, what are you doing Akame?" Tatsumi asked.

"Once we weaken Lars there will be no need to fuse." Akame replied.

"But joining together is the only chance we have at beating Lars." Tatsumi said. "And besides, you're dead, so if you're not merged with me, you'll be forced back to the Spirit Realm, and you could still lose your body too."

"Tatsumi, you know that you can take on Lars, right?" Akame said. "Once we weaken him, he'll be at your mercy."

"Yeah, but you don't know that." Tatsumi said. "We don't know if we can find the others; we don't know if we can free them, and we don't know if Lars will return to his original form. None of that is a guarantee. This plan isn't fool proof. We're going in blind here."
